Prosecutor Was Arrested;
V*
Webb To be Tried in October.
The grand jury last week failed
to find a true hill against Homer
Webb for burning the gin house
of Tube Mims, but returned one
against him for writing a threat*
enfng letter. The case was set
for Thursday but for some reason
was not called until Friday, A
very large number of witnesses
were summoned and they were
com pel lad to make two trips.
When the ease was called Friday,
Webb’s lawyer, Col. li. A. Hen¬
dricks, moved for u continuance
on the ground that some witness¬
es were absent. The motion was
granted and Judge Mitchell fixed
\\ ebb’s bond at $800, which is
considered a light one in view of
the vile cli iracier of the letter in
question. There was a large
crowd present and there was a
good deal of disappointment that
the case was not tried. A good
many witnesses, who knew very
little, if anything at all, were
compelled to make two trips.
