Farm Storage
And Drying Loans
Now Available
Mr. John S. Montgomery,
Chairman of the Taylor
County Agricultural
Stabilization and Conservation
Committee, urges producers of
small grain, soybeans, or corn
in 1968 to get acquainted with
the new Farm Storage and
Drying Equipment Loan
Program.
Under this program, he says,
farmers have an opportunity to
get needed on-farm storage and
the drying equipment they
need for holding commodities
off the market at harvest time,
a time when prices are
traditionally at their lowest.
If farmers have a place to
store they may obtain price
support loans on their crops of
soybeans or corn, hold them
for any time when they decide
the price is right to sell. Mr.
Montgomery warned that too

APPLICATION FOR CHARTER
STATE OF GEORGIA:
COUNTY OF TAYLOR:
TO THE SUPERIOR COURT
OF SAID STATE AND
COUNTY:
The petition of J. RAN
COOPER, ROBERT COOPER,
ANN DON BARNES, all of
Rupert, Georgia, respectfully
shows:
1.
That they desire for
themselves, their associates,
and assigns, to be incorporated
under the name and style of
“Cooper and Barnes, Inc.”
for a period of thirty-five
years.
2.
The object of said proposed
corporation is pecuniary gain
and profit to the stockholders.
3.
The principal business of
the corporation is to engage in
the equipment business, the
operation of an equipment
company, both on the
wholesale and retail level,
specifically farm tractors and
industrial equipment and
much of any crop rushed to
market at harvest time usually
results in a break in prices.
Mr. Montgomery stated that
loans up to 85 per cent of the
cost of storage, drying, and
handling equipment may be
obtained under the program.
The money can be used to buy,
build, or remodel storage
facilities, or to buy handling
and drying equipment. The
storage might be cribs, bins, or
buildings, and the handling
equipment could be dryers, air
circulators ventilatiors, tunnels
or power fans. They may be
moveable or stationary. Loans
under the program are
repayable in five years in four
annual installments. Interest is
at 34 cents per hundred dollars
per month. Mr. Montgomery
stated that a farmer can obtain
a price support loan only if he
has adequate on-farm storage,
or is able to obtain storage in a
warehouse which has a
contract with the Commodity
Credit Corporation.
“While there is still time for
providing this storage I urge
every producer of these two
commodities to contact us at
the ASCS office and learn the
details of the program. We
believe that these loans will be
advantageous to almost every
producer,” he concluded.
