VOICE OF THE PEOPLE
“Switching Mirrors”
Dear Editor:
“But be ye doers of the Word,
and not hearers only, deceiving
your own selves. For if any be
a hearer of the Word, and NOT
A DOER, he is like unto a man
beholding his natural face in a
GLASS: For he beholdeth him
self, and goeth his way, and
straightway forgetteth what
manner of man he was. But
whoso lookcth into the PER
FECT LAW OF LIBERTY, he
being not a forgetful hearer, but
a DOER of the work, shall be
blessed in his deed.’' (James
1:22-25)
At some point just about ev
erybody on Planet Earth has
looked into a mirror to see what
he or she looks like. This may
be done to see if your clothing
is fitting properly, your face is
clean, etc. But although the
mirror shows that something
may be wrong, it cannot do any
thing to straighten out the
problem. Say, for instance, that
your face is dirty* Well, it goes
without saying that though the
mirror has shown you that your
face is dirty, it cannot do any
thing to clean your face. For
that, you need soap and water.
Now' suppose that a person
looking in the mirror decides
that he/she did not like what
the mirror was saying about
their appearance, and to rectify
the problem, they decide to go
and get another mirror that
will give them a better reflec
tion of themselves - one that
would somehow show' that
their face is clean although, in
reality, it is still dirty —, we can
readily see that the problem is
NOT solved, only distorted.
God has given us a MIRROR
that reflects, not our physical
appearance, but our moral
character, This MIRROR is
God’s Holy Ten Command
ments, called the LAW OF LIB
ERTY (James 2:12), and as we
look into God’s Moral Mirror,
we see our true moral condi
tion. Now, just as the physical
mirror could not clean a dirty
face, God’s moral mirror cannot
clean up a marred character.
Its purpose is to simply let you
know where you are w rong, so
that you can clean yourself up
by using God s cleansing agent.
That agent is found in 1 John
1:9: “If we confess our sins, He
is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins, and to CLEANSE us
from ALL UNRIGHTEOUS
NESS.” This is done by the
“blood of Jesus Christ” that
“CLEANSETH US FROM ALL
SIN.” {1 John 1:7)
However, many people today
have decided that they don’t
like what God’s MORAL MIR
ROR is showing them, so
rather than trying to use God’s
CLEANSING method, they
have gotten another mirror
that will show them something
different, although it is a DIS
TORTED image and in no way
solves the problem* They have
made up their own rules of con
duct that are in direct opposi
tion to the TEN COMMAND
MENT LAW OF GOD, If they
do not reverse their course of
action and return to God’s way,
they will eventually meet de
struction because they have not
CLEANED themselves; they
just succeeded in SWITCHING
MIRRORS.

“Double Standards”
Dear Editor:
A few years back, Target
C.E.O.s made a ruling against
my and others’ family members’
Constitutional Rights. They
did this by making it okay in
their stores for men dressed in
women’s clothing to go into the
restrooms and dressing rooms
where our wives and daughters
might be.
Because of' Target ruling
against our lights, I joined with
over 1.5 million others who
signed an oath to boycott Tar
get. Several years have passed,
and 1 have not set foot in a Tar
get store, and as long as they
practice their anti-Constitution
behavior, I will never step foot
back in a Target store.
With that said, 1 was never
much a Target supporter, even
before they ruled against our
Constitutional rights, but I am
a longtime racing fan, 50 years
matter of fact. Due to NASCAR
CE.O.s choosing to follow in
the anti-Constitutional foot
steps of those who run Target,
I join with many others who
have decided to pull their spon
sorship, their money, from
NASCAR, From now on, my
Sundays will be spent not sup
porting NASCAR, but support
ing those who support the U.S.
Constitution,
This will he a hard thing for
me to do* due to my love for rac
ing, but the fact is, if all Ameri-
cans do not begin to take a
stand against any such as Tar
get and NASCAR, who rule
against our Constitutional
rights, one day we will be in the
same predicament as was the
proverbial frog, who ended up
in a pot of water, who stayed
there too long, causing him to
lose all his freedoms, even his
life.
How did NASCAR fail one of
their own and their fan base?
After Kyle Larson was heard
saying the N word one time,
instead of pointing out the fact
thousands of others on a regu
lar basis get paid to say the N
word, Kyle did it for free, they
suspended him, resulting in his
sponsors pulling their support,
and the team he drives for fir
ing him.
Even Bubba Wallace, the only
NASCAR driver who is part
hlack, joined the NASCAR of
ficials in calling out Kyle, yet
are never heard callingout rap
singers who use the N word far
more frequently than Kyle, and
getting paid to do so.
1 leave the readers, who dis
agree with this assessment,
with a wutness I found on
Google, that is a witness to and
supports my argument about
the double standards being
played out here, a double stan
dard that even those who run
NASCAR, are too cowardly to
call out.

“Finding New Purpose In Life”
Dear Editor;
Significance of this article:
The life question addressed in
this article is, “How can I find
new purpose in my life?" (Defi
nition of Purpose-something
one has in mind to get or do;
aim: intention. Object or end
for which a thing is made, done,
used. Full of meaning; signifi
cant. Having or full of deter
mination.) The Biblical Truth
is that Jesus’ followers are
called to tell the Good News of
God’s Kingdom. The Life Im
pact is to help you find renewed
purpose in telling others about
God’s Kingdom-
Importance of purpose for
adults: Many adults lack a
sense of purpose or life direc
tion. Some follow a winding
course, wandering aimlessly or
mcaninglessly from one job to
another, seeking but never
finding the fulfillment or sat
isfaction they crave. Others
strive constantly to obtain
more, new, and better things,
only to find their pursuit of
things leaves them empty in
side. Jesus’Call to be a disciple
necessarily focuses one’s heart
and mind on things of eternal
significance. As in the case of
the first disciples w r ho followed
Jesus, people who follow Jesus
today choose to leave behind
some things from their former
Jives. Some adults may even
be called to vocational ministry
that demands they leave be
hind former careers. Other
adults may not be called to vo
cational service, but all who
follow Jesus discover that He
engages them in fulfilling a
new purpose-helping others
know of the Good News of the
Kingdom of God,
Spiritual Transformations:
People from Capernaum
flocked to Jesus for His
miracles of healing, casting out
demons, and teaching and
preaching the God News—the
Word of God. They urged Him
to stay with them but He said
that He must preach the Good
News of God's Kingdom in
other places. When crowds
pressed on Him, Jesus, with
Simon Peter’s permission,
taught the people while He sat
in Simon's fishing boat, Jesus
asked Simon to move into deep
water and let down the nets to
catch fish. Simon said he and
the other professional fisher
men had toiled all night and
caught nothing. However, al
though he was reluctant, he
obeyed Jesus. So many fish
filled the nets that they almost
sank the boats. Simon Peter
fell before Jesus, confessed his
sinfulness, and asked Jesus to
depart from him. Instead,
Jesus called Simon to become
a fisher of men. Simon then left
all and followed Jesus. Ques
tions: What gives your life a
sense of ultimate purpose? In
what ways are you telling the
Good News of God’s Kingdom
to others?
Understand Jesus’ Purpose:
(Luke 4:42-44) What are the
lasting lessons?
1) Christ cares for us and meets
our needs; 2) His purpose in
cludes preaching the Kingdom
of God to all people; 3) No per
son or group has exclusive
claim on Jesus.
Allow Jesus to use what you
have: (Luke 5:1-2) What are
the lasting lessons?
1) People are hungry for the
Word of God, 2) Jesus honors
and uses people who work at
jobs that please God, help oth
ers, and meet personal and
family needs; 3} Jesus calls us
to allow Him to use what we
have to tell the Good News,
Follow Jesus’ Instructions;
(Luke 5:4-7) What are the last
ing lessons?
1) Jesus sometimes instructs us
to do things we are reluctant
to do.
2) We may forget at times that
He is Lord over all things.
3) Some people feel their lives
are accomplishing nothing of
lasting value.
4) When we trust and obey
Christ, He is able to do amaz
ing things.
