Self-Inflicted Wounds:
How We Are Putting
Even The Vulnerable At Risk
Happiness is a butterfly which, when pur-
sued, is always beyond our grasp, but if you
will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

When a shotgun approach is taken versus a more targeted approach, there are a lot of things that can get wounded,
torn, and damaged, leaving us with a messed up end product. We can see how much faster we heal with today's
microscopic surgeries versus ones done many years ago, because of the laser focus on the target area (this leaves much
less wounded flesh and organs, and recovery can be a snap). This is the same when a tactical approach is used in
warfare and highly skilled operatives are used to take out primary infrastructure and enemy leaders instead of losing
a massive amount of young men and women on both sides that happen to he on one side or other of the conflict and are
simply doing as commanded and out of loyalty to their country and because they're a part of its body. In this way, there
are much fewer lives devastated due to a lost father, mother, son, or daughter. One thing that really worries me in our
shotgun approach to COVID-19 is that in our attempts to suppress something, we are crushing people’s lives, busi
nesses, and futures much more than we realize. If we crush people's vision for their future and put the care of their
family in jeopardy, there are things that become much more of a clear and present danger than the fear of a virus. And
when the financial Novocain wears off (that has been getting pumped out to people and into the economy), the opinion
will probably change even by the staunchest (stay at home) advocates on what we did to the health of this country as a
whole. We have given a healthy economy a serious self inflicted wound that could lead to a lot of despair and overall
decline in mental health and chronic disease, especially among the middle and low income populations.
Most of us hear a lot of view's and opinions of how we should be handling COVID-19, and most have a good logic to
explain their view, this is mine:
1. We have weakened our entire body and left it open and vulnerable to an economical disease and have put our most
vulnerable at future risk because we didn't put a laser focus of our resources on them. We used a much larger shotgun
approach on idling an entire country of producers, while at the same time producing and pumping a lot of new fiat
currency into our financial system (to support nonproductively. This massive amount of new- money will dilute the
buying power of the dollar, so if you see a carton of eggs (once the dust settles) that used to be $2.50 become normalized
pricing at $3.95, you will then see the effects of shoveling massive amounts of new money into a financial system to
support non-productivity.
2. The young and healthy need to get hack to work and our protection of the vulnerable among us needs to increase. We
need clear definitions of who is the most vulnerable and put our capital and energy toward protecting them. We could've
let them stay home and protect their turf by making anyone that comes around them wear a mask (mouth diaper) and
kept our country open for business and gotten by for a mere fraction of the trillions of
dollars spent throwing paper on a consuming fire. Case in point - quarantining healthy
people to their houses is stupid and can weaken their immune systems (like avoiding
exercise can weaken muscles), Closing parks, beaches, and other venues of physical and
mental release is a warped approach to any type of building immune strength and vital
ity. Our hody is designed to fight viruses, barterias, and germs, this is more about mo
nopolization and control of your immune system by government controls and big phar
maceutical profits.
3. There is nothing we have on deck that is keeping this from flaring back up like a fresh
round of dry hay dropped on underlying smoldering embers. So we need to put our boots
on and fight fire in a Sustainable steady way instead of starving everyone of oxygen to
temporarily suppress the fire, Simply put, the hospitals can handle a steady flow a lot
better now than they will this fall (when combined with flu season), if we don’t build up
our natural immunity and get exposed to each other. Hospitals are there to help people
who get to a point that they cannot help themselves, and so far, many of them have been
so slow some of them may go completely out of business. How healthy will that be to the
surrounding areas when part of their health infrastructure is bankrupt).
If we don't get this economy back on track and people start getting desperate because
their lives are getting destroyed and they have to worry about not being able to supply
the needs for their family (and much less themselves), we will have a lot more to be
concerned about than a virus. When there is plenty of cash, but goods and services start
becoming scarce and hard to get, there will be some that will start realizing that goods
don’t originate from the store and the businesses supplying services don't happen out of
thin air.
We have to take this seriously, because this is a nasty virus (our family is experiencing
it now), but we have to get back to work and produce goods and services, or we're going to
open ourselves to further injury. If we don't, this will be most intensely felt by ones on
fixed incomes as well as middle and low-income earners that are unable to have the
same purchasing power of these goods and services. Being cash rich but goods and ser
vices poor is unhealthy and can lead to a level of despair very few in this country can
relate to or have experienced.
Healthy people need to get to work and the politicians who were elected to serve need to
quit acting like a hunch of pansies, get out of their protected conclaves, and get to work,
or we will be putting the health and financial futures of the very ones we claim to be
protecting in jeopardy...

‘Working for you today, for a better tomorrow’

To the Citizens of Taylor County and the Voters of District 4:
I am running for District 4 County Commissioner. I am a graduate of
Taylor County High School and have an AAS degree in Electrical Trans
mission System Technology. I will complete my BS degree in Energy Man
agement this summer. 1 am married and have 3 boys. I worked for the
Taylor County Sheriff’s Office for 3 years, before I accepted a job at Flint
Energies, which is where I am currently employed, I have been a Volunteer
Fire Fighter for Butler Fire Department for 22 years. I have volunteered as
a baseball coach and was the Taylor County High School Band Booster
President for 5 years. I am currently on the State Board of Directors for
the NWTF (National Wild Turkey Federation),
During my campaign, many have asked “Why do you want this head
ache?” My answer is simple. I do not feel I should complain about things
without trying to make a difference myself. I am not a politician, hut hope
with your vote I’ll be able to make our county even better. I believe in
working for all citizens to make our community better as a whole.
When I announced that I was running as Commissioner, I said 1 would
do my best to visit each of you. Well, that did not happen with us being
under orders from the Governor to shelter-in-place. To the neighbors that
opened your door and allowed me to talk to you, “Thank you.” To those
that I have not seen or if you did not receive a post card from me, then
please take this letter as my way of asking for your support for Taylor
County Commissioner District 4,1 feel that with my leadership experience
and your vote, we can improve many areas in Taylor County, that will
benefit all of us. Please feel free to contact me at 478-954-2269 with any
concerns or questions.
I appreciate you taking time to read this letter and pray that you and
your family are safe and healthy, as we move forward from this pandemic.
Sincerely,
Keith Poole
