OBITUARIES
Carreker
Theresa S. Carreker, 62, of
Junction City, GA, died Dec.
16, 2021, at Warm Springs
Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2021, at 1
p.m., at FirstBaplistChurch in
Junction City, with Rev. Ricky
Wright officiating.
She was a member of First
Baptist Church, but later
moved her membership to New
Zion Baptist Church in Mauk,
GA, She attended school in
Talbot County, She enjoyed
going to church, singing in the
choir, and cooking.
She is survived by her hus
band, Robert L. Carreker of
Junction City, GA; two children,
Dawayne Sanders and
Shevanta Carreker of Junction
City; three stepchildren,
Michelle Carreker of West
Point, GA, Robert Carreker, IE
of Miami, FL, and Marcus
Mizcll of Fort Mitchell, AL;
three grandchildren, Detre'-
vious Thomas of Co lu mbits, GA,
Jaylan Walton of LaGrange,
GA, and Keyvion Paschal of
Junction City; one great grand
child, Kygan Thomas of Colum
bus; sisters, Sheila Ann Sand
ers of Talbotton and Annette
Howard of Columbus; seven
aunts; five uncles; and a host of
other relatives and friends.
House of Towns Mortuaiy of
Reynolds, GA was in charge of
arrangements.
Hike
Cattalaya Amari Ayrianna
Hike, 8, died Nov. 27, 2021,
while visiting her grandmother
in Atlanta, GA.
Graveside services were held
Dec. 11, 2021, at 1 p.m,, at
Cherry Blossom Memorial Gar
dens in Lizelia.GA, with Bishop
Graham officiating.
She was born in Macon, GA,
the daughter of Murkeisha
Moses of Macon and Cedric
Hike of Roberta, GA. “Cat’\ as
she was affectionately known,
was a 2nd grader at L.M, Will
iams School in Macon. She
found joy in reading, playing,
and interacting with her sib
lings.
She will be sadly missed by
her family, classmates, and
teachers.

Hudson
Graveside services for Eider
Lurander Hudson were held
Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at 2
p.m., at Bentley-Carson Cem
etery, with Pastor David Tow ns
officiating.
He was born in 1940 and was
the pastor of Bethel Temple
Holiness Church.
Bentley's Funeral Home of
Reynolds, GA was in charge of
arrangements.
Loucas
Willie G. “Sonny" Loucas, Jr.,
73, died Dec. 22, 2021, at Sa
vannah Memorial Hospital in
Savannah, GA,
Public viewing will be Friday,
Dec. 31, 2021, from 9 a.m. until
9 p.m., at Bentley-Montford
Mortuary, 133 Railroad St.,
Butler, GA,
Funeral services will be held
Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, on the
family land located at 171 Jones
Rd., Mauk, GA.
Bentley-Montford Mortuary of
Butler, GA is in charge of ar
rangements.
Mathis
Leila B. Mathis, 86, died Dec.
18, 2021.
She was horn June 13,1935 to
Williams Green and Mary Lee
Green, in Taylor County. She
grew up and attended schools
in Taylor County. In her early
years, growing up in a large
family, she learned her place
and was the eldest child of
many. She looked out for her
younger siblings. She learned
very important work ethics
from her mother, as she would
goto work with and often assist
her with the daily chores.
As a young girl, she developed
an interest in cooking. At age
11, she would cook alongside
her mother. Also, duringthose
years, Leila Bell attended
church with family and made
Free Run Baptist Church her
church home.
Leila Bell grew into a young
woman and experienced the
courtship of a young man who
peeked her interest, Johnny
Clifford Mathis. They built a
love that would grow' into mar
riage, and two sons were added
to the family, Johnny and Perry
Mathis,
Leila Bell worked as a domes
tic coordinator for several de
cades. She was known for her
unique talents. She was a noted
seamstress, distinguished in
the culinary department, an
awesome baker, even making
homemade candy. Everyone
enjoyed her cooking, She was
the head cook at the Annual
Chicken George Tournament
for the golf course in Reynolds.
She took care of the Whatley
and Sams families, and later,
the Helms family. There are
many children who Leila Bell
played an important role in
their lives as their Nanny, She
truly inspired a generation of
youth. She was so loving, car
ing, supportive, and giving of
herself to others. She was a
selfless woman, who gave all
she had to her family and oth
ers.
As the days began to fade and
the golden years began to come,
life changed, but Leila Bell
embraced the change bravely.
She found joy in rural living.
Shegrew amazinggardens and
loved her prized livestock, her
hens and chicklets, and fresh
farm eggs. Her life was simple,
yet complex, at times. Leila
Bells life was full of joy, happi
ness, love, discouragement,
pain, and things that were sure
to be a good tearjerker, but she
was always a trooper.
She was preceded in death by
Will and Mary Green, Perry
PeJay Mathis, Eula Pearl
Preston, Walter Green, Willie
James Green, William Green,
Jr., Glenda Faye Green, James
Green, John Henry Green,
Jennie Lee Green, Mattie Pearl
Green, Jessie Lee Green, and
Henry Lee Green.
She is survived by two sisters,
Minnie Preston and WillaMae;
one son, Johnny Paul (Mildred)
Mathis of Atlanta, GA; step
children, John L. Mathis of
Reynolds, GA, Ronald and
Donald Mathis of Sarasota, FL;
her grandchildren, Portia
Mathis and John John Mathis;
great grandchildren, Cruz and
Cannon Griffin; and a host of
other relatives and friends.

Reynolds, GA was in charge of
arrangements.
Williams
Lawrence Walter Williams,
also known as Larry and Dude,
60, of Butler, GA, died Dec. 21,
2021, at Phoebe Putney Hospi
tal in Americas, GA.
A memorial service will beheld
at a later date.
He was horn Aug. 12,1961, in
Cadillac, MI, to the late Rohert
L. Williams, Sr. and Donna
Bailey Williams. He was the
fourth of their five children and
was totally spoiled by his fam
ily*
Larry was a jack of a 11 trades,
specializing in welding at the
shop in Butler for his nephew',
Larry.
He will be greatly missed by
his family and friends.
Hc was preceded in death by
his parents. Robert and Donna
Williams; and a brother-in-law',
John Buchanan.
He is survived by bis daugh
ter, Amber Williams and her
partner, Jr. of Butler, GA; two
grandsons, Alec and Owen
Hobbs of Mauk, GA; siblings,
Marsha and Big Larry Starling
of Mauk; Iris Buchanan of
Pcastcr, TX; Robert Williams,
Jr. and Anita of Clearwater,
FL, and Colleen and Brent
Davidson of Hugo, OK; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
