Mrs. E. A. Bell left for Wallialla

There seems to be an epidemic of
tvphoi.1 fever in this county at pres-
ent. It is a mild type rA the disease,
however. ,
Hon. W. S. Long, J. A. Swafford
and Bartow WhitmiVe, returned on
Sunday last. i They report it as beino

Messrs. S. A. Beck, E. L. McCon¬

Exposition Sunday last.
J. U. Merritt left on last Saturday
for Cleveland to attend court.
Mr. J. F. Earls says that although
he is a merchant, he would like to
purchase for his own use, one of the
Alliance farmers planter’s and cultiva
tors, if it is not contrary to the rules
of the order to sell them to outsiders.
Can any of our readers give him any
information on that point?
Mr. T. H. Jones, of the firm of E.
P. West & Co. informed us that there
was a tremendous run on the firm last
woek for eye water and handkerchiefs
Further inquiry resulted in the infor¬
mation that Joe and Tol were the par¬
ties creating the demand. Wonder
if the departure of a couple of young
ladies from this place was the cause
of this extraordinary demand,and the
inflamed appearance of the eyes of
the above named young gentlemen.
Clayton was visited on Monday by
a regular confidence operator/calling
himself Col. Pratt, and representing
himself to be a man of some note in
railroad circles. He succeeded in
mulcting our fellow townsman, Mr.
I). T. Duncan, out of $50 by his
plausible representations. At last
accounts he was enroute for Toccoa,
and the people at that town are warn¬
ed against trusting to any of his
oily stories.
