Mr. Seif Simpson’s baby boy has
been quite sick for the past few
days. Many friends hope for an
early recovery.
Rev. Mr. Harrell returned from
Dahlonega Tuesday, having preach¬
ed at Buford. G:t on his way back
trom Gainesville.
Mr. Simmons is rapidly pushing
to completion his new residence.
It is showing up now in great
shape, and promises to be one of
the prettiest homes on that pretty
street.
Miss Anzie Fredericks, one of
loccoa’s most charming young la¬
dies, who has been slightly ill for
the past few days, we are glad to
record is able to be out again.
Quite a little party of Toccoa’s
legal talent was in Clarkesville the
first ol the week, attending the city
court session there.

torney, spent a few hours in the

Miss Lizzie Bush, of Banks

Rev. Mr. Harrell announces
that there will be preaching Sun¬
day at the Presbyterian church, at
1 1 o’clock, but no night service.
Dr. Nardin, one of Anderson’s
leading physicians, arrived this
morning to attend the bedside of
his little grand son, the youngest
child of Mr. andd Mrs. Seph Simp¬
son.

Children will be Free, Toe-
coa’s School Closes Fri¬
day Night Next.
One week from today the Toccoa
public school will close the Session
of 1900-1901, and the children who
have for nine long months been
hard at work will throw aside their
books and rest for a season.
I’rof. Thomas has not yet com¬
piled the program of the closing
exercises which will be held Fri¬
day night in the chapel, but this
will be done in due time, and pa
rents and friends will be given
ample opportunity to be posted of
what they may expect on that oc
casion.
Prof. Thomas has secured the
promise of Hon. Porter King from
Atlanta to deliver the address, and
this will be a feature of the exer-
cises. Mr. King enjoys an excel*
lent reputation as a speaker, and
his remarks will no doubt be worth
much to the pupils.
No word has yet been given out
regarding the part the graduating
class will take in the services.
There are five in the class however,
and each will no doubt have a pa¬
per, so that something good may
be expected from this feature of the
evening.
Miss Hudson’s musicale will be
given Thursday night. This will
he a treat also, and a large atten¬
dance is expected.
The Record will have a pretty
illustrated account of the closing
exercises, rtnd we believe the show¬
ing made by Toccoa’s school will
excell any that can he made by
Habersham county, which is say¬
ing a great deal, for there are two
or three other excellent schools in
this county.
The Meeting.
The meeting at .he Methodist
church will close Sunday, Rev.
Mr. McConnell delivering his last
sermon on Sunday and leaving on
Monday. This divine has had en¬
tire attention of the people of
Tocooa, has preached some power-
ful sermons and his visit will no
doubt result in a general upheave 1
of the people religiously. He is
very interesting talker and
every word he speaks is at-
tentively listened to. There
have been several conversions al-
ready and others are expected to
follow as a direct result of his
preaching.
