Bainbridge, Ga., Feb'. 20th, 1869.
Many years-ago, tbe writer of fteaf-Haesand an invalid physician, while visiting the
Wwd of St Crux for their health, experienced and witnessed many surprising and
beneficial effects of the Sum were produced upon many of the invalids who were (like
enrselves) seeking health; and, upon inquiry and investigation, obtained a full history
es its medicinal virtues. Be was delighted and surprised, and after his own recovery,
which soon occurred, detenpineu, if possible, to procure the sole right to manufacture
and sell it in the United States,
The result of his labors was a glorious success for hinfeelt and suffering humanity,
*r the celebrated PLANTATION BITTERS was thus made known to the world, !U»-
TATION BITTESS being an article of real merit, founded upon new principles, dad
relying wholly upon the vegetable world for its medicinal effects, worked a rapid revolu
tion in the history of medicine, and became as a household word all over the civilised
world. The cabalistic S. T.-1860-X. was a talisman of health, and the demand for
the PLANTATION BITTER* toon tv exceeded the abilities of the proprietors te stpply,
Notwithstanding the large importation of St, Croix Bum, made expressly fer the com*
petading of these Bitters, the quantity was inadequate. It therefore became necessary
that arrangements upon an extensive scale abroad should at- once be made, an agent
was dispatched to St. Thomas for that purpose. Be was fortunate in securing end
leasing several plantations on some of the largest and most productive estates m the
Island. Houses, stalls and presses were erected as if by magic, which utterly 44 aston
ished the natives." The services .pf experlmced men and native* of the island were pro*
eved, nd vary soon the proprietors of the PLANTATION BITTERS were in a position
to supply their laboratory with all the perfectly pure St.. Croix Bum needed in manufec
taring the &REAT DYSPEPTIC TONIC ANB INVIGORATOR. The above cut repreaenta
the aatives crushing the sugar-cane and otherwise preparing it for the stills and preisee,
As an antidote to Fever and Ague, Intermittent and Malarious Fevers, Dyspepsia, and
other kindred diseases, the usOf the PLANTATION BITTERS Is unsurpassed lnthi
history of the world. Over -five million bottle «re disposed of annually. They sra
adopted to old and young, male and female. They are agreeable in taste, and always
produce n immediate beneficial result, *
