A Profitable day’s Ploughing —One day
last week, as Mr. Vann or the Cherokee
Nation, was ploughing in his field at
Webster Falls, his plough struck some
tliiwg, stopping his mule. Supposing it to
be a root, he struck the mule with his la*»h,
a«d it gave a sudden puil, when up came
five old Spanish dollars. Mr Vann went
to the spot where the coin appeared, and
on examination found a keg full of the coin
The staves of the keg were rotten, but the
dollars were as souud as when coined at
the old Spanish mint. On digging up the
lieg he found it contained SSOOO, all in old
Spanish dollars of the date of about 1806
and American half dollars of old date. The
keg must have been buried twenty or
thirty years ago. Since the finding of this
money the whole field has bceu dug up in
search of hidden treasures.

tree with all her little ones. As the flood
brought along drift wood, she caught them
aud constructed sort ol a raft around the
tree, so that when oue of the children slip

below. Here the heroic mother, with hei
precious treasures, remained for tweuty
four hours until Mr Ooalson constructed a
boat and took thfcm| to shore.

The result of his labors was a glorious success for himself and suffering humanity,
for the celebrated PLANTATION SITTERS Was known to' the world. PLAN
TATION BITTERS being an article of real merit, founded upcu new principles, and
relying wholly upon the vegetable world for its medicinal .worked^ a rapid revolu
tion in the history'of medicine, and became as a household word alj over she civilized
world. The cabalistic S. T.— lß6o—X. was a talisman of health, and the. demand for
the PLANTATION BITTERS soon far exceeded the abilities of theproprietors-to supply.
Notwithstanding the large importation of St. Croix Rum, made expressly for the com
pounding of these Bitters,- the quantity was inadequate. It therefore became necessary
that arrangements upon an extensive scale abroad should at once be made, and an agent
was dispatchedr to St. Thomas for that purpose. He was fortunate in securing and
leasing several plantations on tome of the largest and most productive estates on the
Island. Houses, stills and presses wer«f erected as if by magic, which utterly “ aston
ished-the natives/' The services of experienced men and natives of the island were pro
cured, and very soon the proprietors of the PLANTATION BITTERS were in a position
to supply their laboratory with all the perfectly pure St. Croix Rum needed in manufac
turing the GREAT DYSPEPTIC TONIC AND INVIGQRATOR. The above cut represente ;
the natives crushing the sugar-cane and otherwise preparing it for the stills and presses.
As an antidote to Fever and Ague, Intermittent and Malarious Fevers, Dyspepsia, ayd
other kindred diseases, the use of the PLANTATION BITTERS is unsurpassed in the
history of the world. Ove* five million bottle disposed of annually. They are
adapted to old and young, male and female. They are agreeable in taste, and always
produce an immediate beneficial result.
