Cutting Affray. —On Saturday night last,
two young men of this city, named res
pectively John Robinson and Curley Hall,
got into a difficulty, the result of which
was, the latter named receiving a very
painful, though not dangerous, wound
in the left shoulder. After the cutting,
Mr. Robinson l“ft and has not since been
heard from. As we know not the partic
ulars, and for fear of doing an unintem*

we refrain from making further remarks.

Anniversary of Stonewall. No. I. — The
2nd anniversary took place Tuesday the 7th
instant. The Engine Wasladen with flowers
and was a perfect thing of Beauty; and the
gallant boys never looked handsomer* es*
cofted by the Oak City Hook auJ Ladder
Company No. 1, also gaily decked with
wreaths they paraded through the princi
pal streets and wound up with a drill. The
beautiful wreath of flowers, hanging from
the air chamber of the Stonewall, we un®
derstand, was the gift of one of Decatur’s
loveliest daughter Miss Sallie S-« —»«.The
trimmings and decoration of the Engine
were done by Mrs. R., and Miss Millie R.
first at brake* and ladders, the gallant
fireman is also, first in the hearts of the
ladies.
The largest assortment of Clothing and
Gents Furnishing Goods ever offered to the
public before, can be had at Steininger &
Eckstein's Flint River Store.
Fire. —On Sunday night at half-past 11
o’clock, we were aroused, by the fire
bells, and guided by the bright glare we
hurried to the spot and found the fine two
story residence of Judge H. M. Beach, on
West SfioTWELL street, in flames, having
caught from the kitchen attached to the
main building. The residence in an incre«*
diblc short time was wrapped in fames and
entirely destroyed. Our gallant firemen
Engine and Hook and Ladder Companies,
were promptly on the ground, but owing to
the scarcity of water could do nothing to
stay the devouring flames. We learn there
was ho insurance on tne property, loss
amounting to f3,600 dollars, owing to
the rapidity of the fire, much of the furni
ture Was destroyed in the building. These
frequent fires, should warn ouf people of
the danger of neglecting to piovide them
selves with cisterns and keep them in re
pair.
Something New —The latest style of La
Bedouin Arabs, Boulevard Skirts and
French Curled Chignons $ also a fine lot of
the best makes of Germantown Quilts* just
received at the Flint River Store.
[A CARD.]
In behalf of the Oak City Hook and
Ladder Company, 1 would respectfully
tender the sincere thanks of the company
to the kind ladies who so beautifully deco*
rated our Truck on the evening of the 7th.
As those kind and ever-willing ladies la*
bored to beautify our apparatus, so We
hope to never fail, (and we know we never
will with such encouragement as they
offer) to labor to save and protect them
from the ravages of (he Fiery Demon,
should the opportunity present itself.
Very respectfully
