This Prayer was given to me
by one of my customers. It is a
reminder of the love and affec
tion our dogs give us. More im
portantly, it is also a gentle re
minder of our obligation to
them. May it touch your heart
as it has touched mine.
A Dog’s Prayer
Treat me kindly, my beloved
master, for no heart in the
world is more grateful for kind
ness than this loving heart of
mine.
Do not break my spirit with a
stick, for though I lick your
hand between the blows, your
patience and understanding
will more quickly teach me the
things you would have me do.
Speak to me often, for your
voice is the world’s sweetest
music, as you must know by
the fierce wagging of my tail
when you footstep falls upon
my waiting car.
When it is cold and wet,
please take me inside, for I am

now a domesticated animal, no
longer used to bitter elements.
And I ask no greater glory than
the privilege of sitting at your
feet beside the hearth. Though
had you no home, I would
rather follow you through ice
and snow than rest upon the
softest pillow in the wannest
home in all the land, for you
arc my god, and I am your de
voted worshiper.
Keep my pan filled with fresh
water, for although I should not
reproach you were it dry, I can
not tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me clean food, that I
may be well, to romp and play
at your bidding, to walk by
your side and stand ready, will
ing and able to protect you with
my life should your life be in
danger.
And, beloved master, should
the Great Master see fit to de
prive me of my health or sight,
do not turn me away from you.
Rather hold me gently in your
arms as skilled hands grant me
the merciful boon of eternal
rest - and I will leave you
knowing with the last breath I
drew, my fate was ever safest
in your hands.
This scribler is setting 11
storys up over the city of New
Orleans on Gravier ST . This
place don’t never sleep. I sorta
figured I was in the wrong
place when a friend of mine
stepped across the street to
Harrah’s place for a Ham &
Cheese sandwich and got out
with a $257.00 bill. That’s
sorta steep, he said he got holt
of some kind of lever &
couldn’t turn it loose.

Developers Plan To Expand Two Subdivisions
Mayor Bob Boney and the Leesburg City Coun
cil heard a report from Pam Thompson, Lee County
Planner, during their meeting Tuesday night. Ms.
Thompson informed the council that the develop
ers of two subdivisions had received preliminary
approval from the planning commission to expand
Foxchase Subdivision and Groover Park Subdivi
sion. 11 home sites will be developed in Phase
Three of Foxchase Subdivision on 6.143 acres of
land. 22 additional home sites will be developed
in Groover Park Subdivision Phase Three on 8.868
acres.
Earlene Davis, representing Creek Area Preser
vation (CAP), encouraged the city council to use
funds from the proposed Special Purpose Local
Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) referendum to improve the
city’s sewer treatment plant. A representative from
Stevenson & Palmer Engineering that performs engineer
ing services for the city pollution control plant is cur
rently under consent order by the Georgia Environmen
tal Protection Division.
The council approved a proposal from Stevenson &
Palmer Engineering for civil engineering services. They
will evaluate the wastewater collection and Treatment
facilities and recommend short-term and long-term im
provements to satisfy the conditions of the consent order
and provide for future growth. They will suggest short
term improvement at the treatment facility, long-term im
provement - expansion of existing facility or a construc
tion of a new facility with estimate of construction cost.
