What the Bible Teaches
By Frank Taylor
Scripture Verse
“He knoweth the way that I
take. ” Job 23:10
Nugget of Truth
The will of God will never lead
you where the grace of God can
not keep you
Bible Lesson
Matthew 24 begins with ques
tions to Jesus from His disciples
about the nature of the end times,
the signs leading up to His com
ing again. People have pondered
these questions ever since. The
answers He gave them point not
to the Rapture of the church but
to the establishment of His king
dom on earth. Because the Rap
ture precedes the kingdom, those
signs apply generally, but not spe
cifically. to that event. In fact the
Rapture is like a trigger that sets
in motion many events, which
will take place on the earth im
mediately prior to Christrs Sec
ond Coming.
When the Church leaves the
earth at the Rapture, so also the
Holy Spirit departs. That means
there is no restraining influence
of righteousness on the earth.
Man, without any restraining
moral or spiritual influence, will
create a terrible situation on earth
known as the Tribulation. The
Book of Revelation chapters 11-
18 deals specifically with the
events of this seven-year time
period, a period of conflict, con
fusion, and wickedness. Believ
ers are not destined for the Tribu
lation period. The Rapture of the
Church is “pre-tribulational:” it
happens before the Tribulation
begins. The Church will be kept
from the “hour of trial which
shall come upon the whole
world” (Revelation 3:10).
During the Tribulation, the
“Man of Sin,” the Antichrist, will
be the dominant person in the
world. All of the evil of Satan
himself will be incarnate in this
man. He is represented in Scrip
ture as a “lawless one” (2
Thessalonians 2:9) and as a beast
(Revelation 13:1-18). Both are
appropriate designations for his
character and his actions during
the Tribu-
1 a t i o n .
Just when
it seems
the Anti
christ has
caused
there to
be no
more
hope for
the world, Christ will appear and
end the Tribulation on earth with
the Battle of Armageddon.
“Millennium” is a Latin word
which means “thousand years,”
and it derives from Revelation
20:1-6 which describes the rule
and reign of Christ on earth. For
a thousand years Christ will rule
as king over all the earth from His
capital, Jerusalem. The saints of
God, who returned with Him for
the Battle of Armageddon, rule
with Christ during the Millen
nium. We rule from the New
Jerusalem, which is located
above the earth, and help to over
see a thousand years of peace and
righteousness on earth. Satan
will be bound during that period
so that peace may flourish and the
knowledge of the Lord may fill
the earth. Everyone entering the
Millennium will be a believer,
having believed in Christ during
the Tribulation (the wicked will
have been judged at this point).
But children will be born who
populate the earth during the mil
lennium, some of who rebel
against the righteous rule of
Christ. Satan is loosed for a time
at the end of the Millennium and
stirs up a final rebellion on the
earth among those who haven’t
believed during the thousand
years. The final judgment of the
world, The Great White Throne
Judgment, concludes the Millen
nium and ushers in eternity.

From The Bible
With my song
The LORD is my light and my
salvation; whom shall I fear? the
LORD is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
One thing have I desired of the
LORD, that will I seek after; that
I may dwell in the house of the
LORD all the days of my life, to
behold the beauty of the LORD,
and to enquire in his temple. For
in the time of trouble he shall hide
me in his pavilion: in the secret of
his tabernacle shall he hide me; he
shall set me up upon a rock. And
now shall mine head be lifted up
above mine enemies round about
me: therefore will I offer in his
tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will
sing, yea, I will sing praises unto
the LORD.
Hear, O LORD, when I cry with
my voice: have mercy also upon
me, and answer me. When thou
saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart
said unto thee, Thy face, LORD,
will I seek. Hide not thy face far
from me; put not thy servant away
in anger: thou hast been my help;
leave me not, neither forsake me,
O God of my salvation. When my
father and my mother forsake me,
By Jerry Kingery
then the LORD will take me up.
Teach me thy way, O LORD, and
lead me in a plain path, because
of mine enemies. Deliver me not
over unto the will of mine en
emies: for false witnesses are risen
up against me, and such as breathe
out cruelty. I had fainted, unless I
had believed to see the goodness
of the LORD in the land of the liv
ing. Wait on the LORD: be of
good courage, and he shall
strengthen thine heart: wait, I say,
on the LORD.
Unto thee will I cry, O LORD
my rock; be not silent to me: lest,
if thou be silent to me, I become
like them that go down into the pit.
Blessed be the LORD, because
he hath heard the voice of my sup
plications. The LORD is my
strength and my shield; my heart
trusted in him, and I am helped:
therefore my heart greatly
rejoiceth; and with my song will I
praise him.

The “Word” For The Week
By Dr. Dennis Prutow
Unless the Lord of Hosts....
October 31, commonly known
as Halloween, is Reformation
Day. In 1517 a German religious
monk, Martin Luther, posted
ninety-five statements on a church
door in Wittenberg, Germany. In
those days church doors were
used as bulletin boards. Martin
Luther launched a great debate.
He sparked what historians call
the Protestant Reformation.
Martin Luther argued we re
ceive salvation from sin and
heaven to come through faith in
Jesus Christ. Only the perfect
work of Jesus Christ earns heaven.
The Bible says, “Being found in
appearance as a man, He humbled
Himself by becoming obedient to
the point of death, even death on
a cross. Therefore also God highly
exalted Him” (Philippians 2:8-9).
Martin Luther maintained we do
not and we cannot earn a place in
heaven. “For all of us have be
come like one who is unclean, and
all our righteous deeds are like a
filthy garment” (Isaiah 64:6).
On the other hand, Jesus Christ
lived a perfect life. He also died
to pay the penalty due to others
for their sins. We deserve that
death penalty. Christ takes the
judgment of God against sin for
all those who trust in His work
rather than their own. In this way
Isaiah 1:9 comes true, “Unless the
Lord of hosts had left us a few
survivors, We would be like
Sodom, We would be like
Gomorrah.”

From A Pastor’s Heart
"Blessed be God, even the Fa
ther of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of mercies, and the God
of all comfort; {4} Who
comforteth us in all our tribula
tion, that we may be able to com
fort them which are in any
trouble, by the comfort where
with we ourselves are comforted
of God." (2 Corinthians 1:3-4
KJV) There is certainly enough
gloom and despair in the world,
enough heartache, and enough
fear to go around. The news is
frightening, and it seems as
though the enemy is going to win.
Let me state very emphatically
that it doesn't have to be so. There
is a hope in Jesus Christ that helps
in times of trouble. Jesus wants
to help you and give you eternal
life, not just put a bandage over
the wounds this world has given
you. In studying the scriptures
quoted above, I came across the
definition from Strong's Concor
dance, which reads: 2347.
thlipsis. thlip'-sis; from G2346;
pressure (lit. orfig.):-afflicted, (-
tion). anguish, burdened, perse
cution, tribulation, trouble. Many
of you reading this article today
are under loads of pressure relat
ing to your home, work, school,
or life in general. There's pressure
to meet deadlines, put food on the
table and clothes on the backs of
loved ones, or to make good
grades. There's peer pressure for
many of you - do like we do or
we won't include you in our little
group. There is more pressure
than what can be covered in this
article. In the wake of the tragic
events of September 11, many
people find themselves unable to
sleep, worried about the end of
the world. What is coming next,
is there going to be another trag
edy like those so vividly dis
played on the news? Is our water
going to be polluted, and is germ
warfare imminent? We don't
know the answers to these ques
tions, but we should be prepared.
We ALL need to have our hope
firmly fixed in the mighty name
of Jesus Christ. The Bible says
in John 11:25-26 KJV "Jesus said
unto her, I am the resurrection,
and the life: he that believeth in
me, though he were dead, yet
Ronald E. Parish
shall he live: {26} And whoso
ever liveth and believeth in me
shall never die. Believest thou
this?" Jesus assured Martha that
those who believed in Him would
have eternal life. Jesus is our life
and our comfort and a very
present help in trouble. Please,
give Christ an opportunity to be
your comfort in these days of
trouble. You will never regret
turning your life completely over
to Him. He is waiting for you with
arms open wide. If you have any

ments. please contact me at
