• Juvenile hunters between the
ages of 12 and 15 may hunt on
private property without hunter
education if under adult supervi
sion.

her own land, or that of his or her
parents or legal guardians.
Pre-registration is required for
all those interested in taking a
hunter education course. Hunters
can call the Central Reservations
System (CRS) 1-800-864-7275 to
register by phone. A service
charge applies to registrations
made through CRS. Alternately,
hunters can go to the WRD web
site at www.georgiawildlife.com
to search and register for a hunter
education course at no charge.
Participants also should note that
there is a cut-off date for regis
tration three days prior to the start
of a class.
Hunters also can replace hunter
education cards through the same
phone and online services. As
with hunter education course reg
istration, a service charge applies
to the CRS phone line but there
is no charge for using the WRD

uled to air Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7:30
p.m. and Friday, Nov. 9 at 11:00
p.m. on Georgia Public Televi
sion (GPTV). "Georgia Out
doors" partners with the Georgia
Department of Natural Re
sources. Wildlife Resources Di
vision (WRD) to inform and edu
cate citizens about exciting con
servation-oriented outdoor activi
ties and great places to pursue
them.
"While anglers in Georgia tra
ditionally pursue fish such as
largemouth bass or crappie, there
is a multitude of other fish that
are out there" says David Waller.
WRD Director. "This episode of
'Georgia Outdoors' will highlight
some of the more unusual
sportfish and sportfishing meth
ods in the state."
On this episode of "Georgia
Outdoors," O'Neill Williams, host
of "O'Neill Outside," a national
fishing program, joins Michael
Skinner on a carp fishing journey.
Skinner also will accompany
WRD Fisheries Biologist Don
Harrison and local angler Steve
Harrell for some other unique
fishing adventures, including
fishing for catfish at night, and
mullet fishing.

Young Named Presidential
Scholar At Lee University
Cecilia Elise Young, of Lees
burg, Georgia, was among 116
students who were named as
Presidential Scholars at Lee Uni
versity for the 2001-2002 school
year.
Young, a freshman majoring in
political science, is the daughter
of John and Cecilia Young. She
is a home-school graduate. At Lee
she is a staff writer for the Lee
Collegian, the university's cam
pus newspaper.
Presidential scholarships,
which are full-tuition scholar
ships. are awarded to any first
time freshman who has graduated
from an approved high school and
who scores 27 - 30 on the ACT
or 1230 - 1390 on the SAT. This
scholarship is equal to standard
tuition for the freshman year.
Lee University is a comprehen
sive four-year liberal arts univer
sity located in Cleveland, Tenn.
Founded in 1918, the accredited
Christian University has an en
rollment of 3,511.

The Department of Pastoral
Care and Phoebe will host the
Annual Pastors’ Training
Conference on Wednesday,
October 31 at the Plantation
Room, Merry Acres, 1504
Dawson Road, Albany. Regis
tration will be from 8:00-8:30
a.m. and a light breakfast will
be served. The conference will
conclude at noon at which time
participants can fellowship over
lunch.
Rev. Cameron W. Byrd will
serve as the guest speaker for
the conference. He will be
offering his insights on the
"Eight Habits of Highly
Effective Pastors." He currently
serves as lecturer in Pastoral
Care at Howard University
School of Theology.
