November
by Grace Rhodes
Most of the leaves have fallen
The trees are beginning to look bare,
The ground is covered with yellow and brown
And the other colors that share
All the favorite shades of the season
And the turning of times unfold,
What a sight God has made for his children
Is worth all the silver and gold.
It’s a time for awe and wonder
It’s a time for glory and praise,
To our God for the splendid aura
Of a world upon which to gaze
Let us pause for a while and remember
All the beautiful things here on earth,
Give thanks to our Lord and master
For these treasures and all their worth.
Have a happy and safe November!
On Wednesday morning, some second grade
students at Lee County Primary School had a real
treat. Mark Daniel from Mark's Melon Patch gave a
demonstration on carving jack-o-lanterns. In the
pictures, you see Mark preparing the pumpkin face
for carving. In the second picture, he was taking
the "guts" of the pumpkin out during which time
he shared some information with the students. The
best time to plant pumpkin seeds which should be
dried before planting is late June and early July.
There are approximately 200 different varieties of
pumpkin seeds and he plants many different
varieties. His largest pumpkin this year weighed
in at 200 pounds. The last picture shows Mrs.
Newcomb and her class with the finished jack-o-
lantern.

Homecoming
Court in Session
By Molly Hardee
Being on homecoming court is
only a dream in the eyes of some,
but on November 2, 2001 eleven
girls' dreams will come true as
they walk out onto the field, and
stare up at the hundreds of faces
in the crowd.
Yes, it is half-time at the home
coming football game against the
Lowndes County Vikings. Nerves
race and thoughts flash through
the minds of eight seniors, one
junior, one sophomore, and one
freshman. "What if I fall?" they
think as they step onto the green
turf. They listen as their names
are called one by one. "And the
homecoming representatives are:
for the seniors. Ashley Gavin,
Deatrice Greene, Meejin Hahn,
Kathy Mashburn, Angela
McNeal. Tish O'Neal, Nikki Riv
ers, and Christina Whitaker. The
homecoming representative for
the juniors' is Kaitlyn Bagnato,
for the sophomores Lyndsey Hill,
and for the freshmen Kendra
Staggs."
Feeling like they have just won
a million bucks, each is honored
to have been elected by their
class. While each of these girls is
excited about being selected for
the court, the student body will
vote to elect one of the seniors as
their queen and another as their
princess during Homecoming
week at school. No matter who
&
wears the crown and holds the
title, each one will be glad to have
the memory of being on home
coming court 2001.
