Police Depart.
Files Activity
Report
During the last two weeks,
Smithville Police Chief Walt
Causey reports that officers pa
trolled over 700 miles. During the
past two weeks, 28 citations were
written.
Lamarcus Demane Walton, 26,
of 785 MLK Jr. Drive, Dawson,
Georgia, was charged October 27
by Lt. D. H. Smith with speeding
84 miles per hour in a 45 zone,
fleeing and attempting to elude,
driving without headlights, reck
less driving, driving while license
suspended, stop sign violation,
and driving on the wrong side of
the road. Walton was turned over
to Lee County Jail for booking.
On Saturday, October 27, at ap
proximately 0106 hours. Smith
checked Walton's vehicle on ra
dar at 84 m.p.h. in a 45 m.p.h.
zone. Smith activated the blue
lights on the patrol car and at
tempted to stop the vehicle but
the vehicle accelerated and con
tinued on Stanton Drive. Before
being stopped, Walton reached a
speed of 105 miles per hour and
driving without his lights. At one
point, he attempted to brake
quickly in front of the patrol car
in an apparent attempt to cause it
to wreck.
Lt. D.H. Smith stopped a ve
hicle for speeding and a passen
ger in the vehicle ( a juvenile ) was
found to be wanted by the Sumter
County Sheriffs Office for being
a run away. The juvenile was re
tuned to Sumter County.
Artis Will Lewis, 32, of 141
Railroad Street, Smithville, and
Donna Michelle Baker, 33, were
charged with disorderly conduct
(use of fighting words) on Octo
ber 24, 2001. Lt. Smith was dis
patched to meet with Baker, the
complainant, at the police depart
ment in reference to a domestic
dispute. She advised that Lewis
was cursing her and pushing her.
At the residence on Railroad
Street, Lewis said they verbally
argued. Lt. Smith told Baker and
Lewis that they needed to get
along. As he was leaving, they
came back outside arguing. Lt.
Smith placed both individuals
under arrest for disorderly con
duct (use of fighting words) and
transported them to the Lee
County for processing. They
were released to the jailer for
booking.
Lt. Smith made an arrest for
speeding and wanted person on
October 23. Smith conducted a
traffic stop on Raynard Dean
Wallace, 46, of 103 Whittlesey
Court, Albany, for speeding on
LeConte Street. A check through
GC revealed that Wallace was
wanted through Dougherty
County for failure to appear on a
battery warrant.
Wallace was trans
ported to the Lee
County jail where he
was released to the
jailer for processing and
released to Dougherty
County for transporting
back to Dougherty
County. He was given a
written warning for
speeding in Smithville.
Chief Causey worked
a theft of lost or mislaid
property on October 15.
The complainant re
ported that he lost his
cellular phone October
14 or 15.
Kenuona Bernard
Parrish, 19, of 161 Paul
Street, Smithville, was
charged with shoplift
ing on October 11 by Lt.
Smith. Parrish was ob
served by a supervisor
on a video camera tak
ing a bag of shelled
whole peanuts from the
business. Parrish told
Lt. Smith where the bag
of peanuts were located.
After the company's
representative pressed
the charge for shoplift
ing, Chief Causey ar
rested Parrish for theft.
Chief Causey worked
a disturbance call on
Wells Street October 5.
The complainant stated
that a neighbor’s 12
year old child slapped
and pulled the hair of
her four year old child.

and Sabrina Langreder. Austin Hatcher is a nine year
old fourth grader. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Glenn
Hatcher. Kelly Swearingen is a ten year old fifth
grader. Kelly's parents are Christy and Tracy
Swearingen. Jayme Evans is an 11 year old sixth
grader. Jayme's mother is Lisa Evans.
