Her hometown is Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. She likes gardening,
reading, finding new places to
explore in the South, touring mu
seums, anything to do with the
arts, and crafts.
I would like to encourage all
parents to tour the Albany Art
Museum and The High Museum
(in Atlanta) with their children.
Exposure and participation in the
arts have many wonderful ben
efits. Studies show students who
are participating in the arts tend
to score better on SAT and ACT
tests. Studying the arts enhances
cognitive skills, because both
sides of your brain are being used.
Art allows students to observe
and make many choices by cre
ative problem solving. Students
become more confidant and self-
reliant. Art allows students to
make personal choices, creating
appreciation, and a value system.
Art provides creative opportuni
ties to display pride and work
manship.
