Leesburg Police Files Weekly Report
Leesburg Police Chief Charles
Moore reports that officers
worked several cases during the
past week including cases for
vandalism.
Dwayne Flowers, 38, of 1657
Highway 195, was charged with
criminal trespass on January 27.
Officer David Bullington
reported that the victim asked
Flowers to leave her residence
and he did not leave. The victim
asked Officer Bullington to tell
Flowers to leave and he did not.
Bullington told Flowers several
times that he had to leave and
he did not comply. Flowers was
placed under arrest and booked
at the Lee County Jail.
Officer Gregory Barrett
worked a vandalism case on
January 18. Officer Barrett was
dispatched to the police
department in reference to
contacting a person. Upon his
arrival, he made contact with
the victim who advised that
some unknown person threw a
rock and broke a window on the
back side of the house. The
window was valued at $75.00.
Officer David Bullington
worked a criminal trespass case
on January 26. The complainant
indicated that between January
17 and January 26 an unknown
object had broken the back
sliding glass window of his
residence on Canal Street. The
hot water heater on the outside
of the house in a storage room
was also dented.

Vehicle
Accident
Occurs In
Leesburg
A two-vehicle
accident occurred
Monday, January 28
just after 8 a.m. on
the U.S. 19 bypass.
Bryan Keith Bullard
of Box Springs,
Georgia, driving a
1999 Kenworth,
struck the passenger
side of a 1999
Suburban driven by
William Kim Allen of
Americus. Both
vehicles were
traveling south at the
time of the accident.
The Allen vehicle
traveled into the
grass median. The
eighteen-wheeler lost
control and traveled
on its side, stopping
across the median.

Compete In State Tournament
Lee County Sheriff’s
Department Makes Arrests
Lee County Sheriff Harold
Breeden reports that officers with
the Lee County Sheriff's Office
made several arrests recently.
William J. Denningham, 27, of
848 Hwy. 19 S, Lot 59, Leesburg,
was charged with theft by taking
(felony) on January 23.
Denningham was arrested after
an investigation revealed that
while employed with an extermi
nating company, he stole a pair
of one carat diamond earrings
from a residence.
Daniel Evan Tims. 50. of 182
Century Road East, Leesburg,
was charged with battery and
criminal trespass on January 21.
He was arrested and charged on
the above charges after officers
responded to a dispute at that lo
cation.
On January 18, officers with
Lee County Sheriff's Office
charged Jack Braxton Sheedy. 19,
of 127 A Crow Drive, Leesburg,
with possession of marijuana
with intent to distribute.

tors) Academic Bowl for Middle
Grades semi-finals held on Sat
urday, January 26, 2002, at
Weaver Middle School in Macon,
Georgia. The two teams will now
compete for the state champion
ship to be held on February 11,
2002. at the Georgia Power Au
ditorium in Atlanta. The PAGE
Academic Bowl for Middle
Grades is sponsored by the
Frances Wood Wilson Founda
tion, the Georgia Power Founda
tion, the Georgia-Pacific Founda
tion, VALIC and the PAGE Foun
dation.
Twenty-four regional winners
from across the state vied for the
opportunity to compete in the fi
nals, with Fulton County’s River
Trail Middle School, coached by
Dru Tomlin and Guy Crotsley,
and Cobb County’s Pine Moun
tain Middle School, coached by
Cindy Register, placing third and
fourth in the competition, respec
tively. Only the two top-seeded
teams will advance to the state
championship.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Held
The Lee County Chamber of Commerce sponsored a Ribbon Cutting for Albany
Lighting and Appliance Center. In operation for 33 years, Albany Lighting and
Appliance Center is now located at 1318 Highway 82 West. The phone number
is 883-4656. Alan V. Jamison, owner, indicates that Albany Lighting and Appliance
Center employees eight people in their 13,000 square foot facility. Business
hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturday 10-12 noon. Albany
Lighting and Appliance Center takes pride in the quality of their products and
the personalized service they offer.

Dennis James Griffin is the
newest member of the Leesburg
Police Department. Officer Grif
fin has five and a half years of
police experience.
Officer Griffin attended Old
Dominion University majoring in
Political Science with a minor in
Economics.
Officer Griffin, who is single,
is a native of Philadelphia, Penn
sylvania. He has also resided in
Virginia Beach, Virginia.
His hobbies are playing the gui
tar and darts and reading politi
cal and technothriller novels. He
is a movie trivia buff.

in the United States Marines
