Get Ready for the 65th Annual Exchange
Club Fair of Southwest Georgia
The 2011 Albany Fair Promises Good Times,
Special to the Ledger
During the week of
November 1-6, 2011, the
65th Annual Exchange
Club Fair of Southwest
Georgia (Albany Fair) will
be a week to remember
with activities ranging
from rides to illusionists
to animal shows to deli
cious —albeit not always
healthy!— fair food.
Opening times will vary
throughout the week and
prices will range from free
to $15 for an unlimited
ride ticket based on the
day of the week and the
discount that is offered.
General fair admission
is $5, parking is free and
children under 48 inches
tall are admitted free.
The Albany Fair will
feature free entertainment
all week long by Buffalo
Barfield, Eudora’s Exotic
Petting Zoo, as well as a
variety of bands, drama
groups, doggers, karaoke
performers and more.
In addition to the daily
entertainment, the fair of
fers thrilling midway rides,
arcade games, livestock
shows and the 15th Annual
Demolition Derby with
a $4,500 purse. New this
year are Rust & Flame
blacksmith demonstra
tions, Belmont Magic &
Illusion shows and the Ali
Baba, a new thrill ride.

Tuesday, November 1:
On opening day, gates will
open at 5 p.m. following
the grand opening ceremo
nies. Parking lot opens at
4 p.m. With a coupon from
Harvey’s Supermarkets
attendees can purchase an
unlimited ride ticket for
$15. All students with a
valid ID card and a non-
perishable food item will
be admitted free from 5-7
p.m.

Kolomoki Mounds
Festival October 8

Make plans to visit
Kolomoki Mounds State
Historic Park, Blakely, Ga.,
Saturday, Oct. 8 to take
part in the 2011 Kolomoki
Festival. The park staff and
Friends of Kolomoki have
a big day planned with
activities beginning at 10
a.m. and ending at 4 p.m.
The $5 daily ParkPass will
be charged to anyone with
out an annual ParkPass.
Georgia-Pacific will host
Kolomoki Kids, a free

which features a wide
variety of arts and crafts
projects for kids to make

boat rides on the lake and

Craftsmen will exhibit

ing and gourd work.
Entertainment takes
place in the G-P Amphi
theater and features danc
ers, vocalists and puppet
shows. A trivia challenge a
cupcake eating contest and
paddle boats of the lake
are also on tap.

Antique tractors will be
on display and will parade
twice during the day.
Festival goers can choose
from a menu featuring
bbq, hamburgers, hotdogs,
