I was working EMS
the other
day when
the page
went out to
all units to
meet at Head
Quarters at
a given time.
I figured it
had to do
with the
heat index
at dangerous
levels. The
thought hadn’t occurred
to me that this could
be about gang activity.
Guess who gets to pick
up these kids who find it
necessary to shoot each
other in the
Good Life
City. Well,
it wasn’t
about that
either. It
was a
much nicer
subject
than. In
fact, it was
about the
best news
that anyone
could ever hear.
We were all gathered
into the Day Room in
Head Quarters. There

LCHS Ninth Grade PTO had a door prize
drawing for families who joined during open
house. The lucky winners were Shannon
Weeks and Joanne Conger. LCHS Ninth
Grade PTO would like to thank Lee County
Auto for the oil change gift basket and Glenda
Battle who donated a Big Chris’ gift card. The
school encourages all families to join PTO. It
is a wonderful organization that gives back
to the school. Pictured are Abbey Weeks and

the two winners.
there for the event, one
of whom I recognized.
He was Mr. Bobby
Tripp. He served as
Director of Dougherty
County EMS for years.
He was able to build HQ
up from little more than
a garage, to the state-of-
the-art facility we now
have on Palmyra Road.
It is one of the best
purely EMS facilities in
the state and probably
the nation. Sam Allen,
present EMS Director,
introduced Bobby and
the other gentleman
to us. I have always
appreciated Sam for
his attentiveness to the
EMTs’ whole person—
spiritual, physical, and
emotional. Sam brought
in a chaplain for us but
he has since moved to
another town. We are
in between chaplains
now. I will pray with
my patients if I sense the
need and they express
their desire for me to
pray That’s the best
medicine.
Now is when I get to
make someone mad. I
don’t remember the
other gentleman’s name!
They both came and
represented the Gide
ons to us. The Gideons
provide Bibles and
New Testaments free
to whoever they can
get them to. Of course,
you see them in hotel
rooms. Bobby Tripp
said a few words and the
other gentleman shared
about the Lord and the
need of salvation. He
prayed a prayer for all of
us and gave each of us
a Gideon New Testa
ment. As the Assistant
Supervisor, John Broad-
away, was passing them
out, he gave me two,
expressing that I was
so bad, I needed more
than anybody else. I
laughed out loud and
said, “Just throw the
Book at me!” All of
this was the same week
our C Shift Supervisor,
Hal Penson, became an
ordained minister with
the Southern Baptists at
Byne Memorial Baptist
Church.
The heart of the
Gideons is captured in
the back of the New
Testament they gave us.
I want to share some of
those passages with you.
Hope it’s not copyright
ed. If it is, just throw
the Book at me again!
“God Loves You
For God so loved the
world, that He gave his
only Son, that whoever
believes in Him should
not perish buy have eter
nal life. John 3:16
All Are Sinners
For all have sinned and
fall short of the glory of
God. Romans 3:23
God’s Remedy for Sin
For the wages of sin
is death, but the gift of
God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
All May be Saved Now
For everyone who
calls upon the name of
the Lord will be saved.
Romans 10:13
My Decision to
Receive Christ as my
Savior
Confessing to God
that I am a sinner, and
believing that the Lord
Jesus died for my sins
on the cross and was
raised for my justifica
tion, I do now receive
and confess Him as my
personal savior.
Assurance as a Be
liever
Truly, Truly, I say to
you, whoever hears my
word and believes him
who sent me has eternal
life. He does not come
into judgement, but has
passed from death to
life. John 5:24”

criminal. Why didn’t he
resist? Grace.
The truth is that our
sins drove him to the
cross. He took our sins
on himself and bore
the punishment that we
deserve. Why? Truth
demands justice, and
justice demands punish
ment for wrong doing.
What kind of world
would this be if people
were permitted to kill
each other when they
got angry? God is righ
teous in that he punishes
sin, but he also loves us
because he sent his son
to take the punishment
we deserve.
“It means that God
was full of grace,” says
Katie, 10. “When people
sinned, he gave grace.”
Think about this: Jesus
Christ left the glories
of his dwelling place in
heaven to suffer the hu
mility of crucifixion so
that he could prepare a
heavenly dwelling place
for us.
Memorize this truth:
John 1:14 quoted above.
Ask this question:
Have you received the
truth about your need
for a savior and God’s
gracious provision in the
life, death and resurrec
tion of the Lord Jesus
Christ?
