LCMSW Students Read Over
300,000 pages During Summer

County Middle School
West were presented
with a reading chal
lenge at the end of
last school year. All
students heading into
grades 6-8 for the
2019-2020 school year
were challenged to
read during the sum
mer. The goal for ris
ing sixth graders was
800 pages. Seventh
graders were expected
to read 1,000 pages,
and eighth graders
maxed out with a goal
of 1,200 pages.
115 students in sixth
grade met the reading
requirements, bringing
their total pages read

bringing their total to
129,000 pages. Eighth
grade had 82 summer
reading participants
who read 98,400
pages. Altogether, 326
students completed
the summer reading
challenge with a total
of 319,400 pages read.
These sensational
summer readers were
recognized on their
individual teams, and
they each received can
dy from the media cen
ter as a reward for their
efforts. All teachers at
LCMSW work together
to encourage students
to become lifelong
readers. Throughout
the year, students will
have the chance to con
tinue highlighting their
reading skills as they
compete for the title of
Top Reader for their
grade each nine weeks.

LCES teachers treated during National Lemonade Day
Last Tuesday was National Lemonade Day. LCES’s PBIS team treated the teachers to delicious
lemonade and cookies. They appreciate all the teachers do to create a positive learning
environment at LCES. They are also grateful the students are encouraged by them and will
excel because of their LEEdership!
