Georgia Unemployment Rate
Drops for 14th Straight Month

Kemp applauded Geor
gia’s unemployment rate
dropping for the four
teenth straight month
since April 2020. The
unemployment rate has
dropped from 4.1% in
May 2021 to 4.0% for
the month of June. The
national unemployment
average is 5.9%.
The number of jobs was
up 32,800 in June, and up
464,000 since businesses
began shutting their doors
due to COVID 19. The la
bor force increased 3,000
over the month to over 5.1
million, up 178,000 since
April 2020. Georgia’s em
ployed residents in June
saw a monthly increase
of 8,000, up 592,000
since April of last year to
4,956,857.

To be eligible for
the President’s List, a
student must be enrolled
full time (12 or more
credit hours) in an asso

program and have a 4.0
GPA for that semester’s
coursework. Those
