Approve Hospital
Authority
During the county
commission meeting
December 13th, the
commissioners approved
a resolution to activate a
hospital authority for Lee
County. Under O.C.G.A.
§31-7-72, in order for
such hospital authority to
transact any business or
exercise any powers un
der state law, the govern
ing body of Lee County
is required to adopt a
resolution activating
such authority.
By approving the res
olution, it was declared
that there is a need for
a hospital author
ity and to provide
for the method of
appointment of the
initial members
of the hospital
authority by the
commissioners.
The hospital au
thority will consist
initially of a board
of five members to
be appointed for
staggered terms.
Two members shall
be appointed for
initial terms of
three years, two
members shall
be appointed for
initial terms of one
year.
All members of
the Lee County
Hospital Authori
ty Board shall be
residents or Lee
County. The mem
bers shall elect
one of their members
as chair and another as
vice-chair and shall also
elect a secretary/trea
surer who may, but need
not be, a member of the
board of the hospital au
thority. The members of
the Board of the hospital
authority shall receive no
compensation for their
services, either as mem
bers or as employees of
the hospital authority,
but may be reimbursed
for their actual expenses
incurred in the perfor
mance of their duties.

Honored For Service
During the last Lee County
Board of Commission
meeting December 13th, Vice
Chairman John Wheaton
was presented with a plaque
recognizing his service to the
citizens of Lee County. Vice
Chairman Wheaton did not
seek reelection to the county
commission.

Approve Pay Hike
For New Deputies
To combat a loss of
deputies in the Lee
County Sheriff’s Office,
the county commission
ers raised the starting
hourly salary for new
deputies to $20. Lee
County currently has
several vacancies for
deputies.
Law enforcement
personnel are not only
seeking employment
with other agencies that
pays more but are also
leaving law enforcement
to seek employment at a
high wage.
