Costume With A Cop
By Dawn Ralston
Saturday October 21st
was the Annual Cos
tume With A Cop Event.
The Lee County Family
Connection and a slew
of volunteers from the
Lee County Sheriff’s
Office shopped with the
kids for costumes. The
event facilitated 73 chil
dren from Lee County
this year.
Each child picked an
officer to shop with and
chose a costume at Party
City. A few of the offi
cers and the entire Party
City Crew supported the
event by wearing their
own Halloween Cos
tume!
This event is supported
by volunteers and dona
tions only. Lee County
Family Connection
along with counselors
identified kids with the
most needs. Next year
the event will be set up
to facilitate as many
children as possible,
thru the communities’
donations.
These donations are
collected by The Lee
County Sheriff’s Office
and facilitated by Patsy
James the Director of
Lee County Family
Connection. Lee County
Family Connection is
non-profit. Contributors
to the Costume With
A Cop Event receive a
donation letter for tax
purposes.
To donate for next
year’s Costume With
A Cop Event please

Caution - Do Not Use Drop Boxes
Sgt. First Class Chris
Allen, an investigator
with the Lee County
Sheriff’s Office, has
a warning for those
mailing items of value
including checks - take
out-going mail inside
the post office and not
use outside drop boxes
at the post offices.
Thieves are prying the
back of the boxes open
and removing the mail.
While many thieves are
“washing” the checks
by changing the name
of whom the check is
payable, others are sim
ply endorsing the back
of the check and not
even changing the front
of the check. They are
using on-line banking
to deposit the checks
taken from the mail
drop boxes. The checks
are deposited on-line at
banks in Pennsylvania
and other locations and
are then re-directed to
the thieves’ accounts.
