celebrate students’
scholastic achievement
in high school and
showcase their strong
academic performance.
The academic honors
for rural area, Black,
Indigenous and/or
Latino students are an
opportunity for students
to share their strong
academic achievements
with colleges and schol
arship programs that
are seeking to recruit
diverse talent.
At Lee County High
School, 28 students
received this academic
honor: National African

The criteria for eligible
students include: GPA
of 3.5 or higher, PSAT/
NMSQT or PSAT 10
assessment scores that
are within the top 10%
of assessment takers
in each state for each
award program or
earned a score of 3 or
higher on 2 or more AP
Exams in 9th and 10th
grade.
Students achieving this
honor attend school in a
rural area or small town,
or identify as African
American/Black, His
panic American/Latino,
or Indigenous/Native.
How to Cook a Thanksgiving Turkey

Put some berry food
out on the porch and
maybe a turkey will
come to your porch to
get the food. Sprinkle
some berry food on the
driveway.
Pretend you are going
to be nice to the turkey
and then shoot him
with a machine gun.
When the gun goes
puddddddddddddddddd,
shoot him in the shape
of an X.
Put the turkey in a
Wal-Mart or flea market
bag and keep him out
side.
Put some mittens on
your hands so they don’t
get all dirty. Cut the
feathers of the turkey
off his back with some
really big, sharp scis
sors. Cut his beak off
and his neck off, too,
with a really big, sharp

for two hours and let
him cool down. Don’t
let him stay in the freez
er too long or he will
freeze like an ice cube.

currently needs an en
gine. This truck carries
a 200 gal. fuel tank, a
30 gal. air compressor
with engine, and two big
toolboxes. The bed of
this truck will be moved
to the new truck as well.
The other F-350 truck
will be used to haul
the new skid steer and
attachments. The skid
steer weighs over 13,000
pounds and this truck
with the proper trailer is
what is recommended to
pull it.

Receives Promotion
The Lee County Board of Education during
their meeting November 13th approved the
recommendation of Dr. Kathleen Truitt to
promote Katie Peppers and Kelli Dukes. Katie
Peppers is currently Twin Oaks Elementary
School’s principal and will be the P-5 Senior
Director of Learning and Leadership. Kelli
Duke is currently Secondary Director of
Teaching and Learning and will be the 6-12
Senior Director of Learning and Leadership.
