Geoffrey Lyman
“Geoff” Gray
Geoffrey Lyman
“Geoff” Gray, 77, of
Lee County, GA, died
December 12, 2023 at
Phoebe Putney Me
morial Hospital. A
memorial service was
held Friday, December
15, 2023 at at St. Paul’s
Episcopal Church.
The Rev. Galen Mirate
officiated. A private
interment followed.
Geoff was born in
Springfield, MA on
October 1, 1946 and
moved to Albany with
his family at a young
age. He grew up in
Radium Springs and
attended Albany High
School where he par
ticipated in basketball,
football and baseball.
He acquired the nick
name “Bear” due to
his exceptional athletic
abilities. He graduat
ed from Albany High
School in 1964. Upon
graduating Albany
High School, he at
tended The University
of Georgia where he
was a member of the
Kappa Alpha Order
Fraternity and served
as Vice President. He
graduated from UGA
with a bachelor’s de
gree in history.
After graduating
from The Universi
ty of Georgia, Geoff
returned to Albany to
join his father, James
H. Gray Sr., at The Al
bany Herald where he
served as Advertising
Director of the news
paper. He later became
Vice President of Gray
Communications and
served on the Board of
Directors. He retired in
2008.
Geoff enjoyed giving
back to his community
by his involvement in
the Rotary Club and
serving on the Board
of the Credit Bureau
of Southwest Georgia.
He shared his passion
for sports with the
youth of Albany as a
longtime Little League
Baseball coach and
basketball referee.
Geoff was preceded
in death by his mother,
Dorothy Ellis John
ston, and his father,
James Harrison Gray,
Sr. as well as his sib
lings, James Harrison
Gray, Jr and Constance
“Connie” Greene.
Survivors include his
wife, Brenda Gray of
Lee County, GA, his
daughters, Andrian
“Andi” Gray Herb of
Savannah, GA and
Lauren Gray (H. J.)
Chandler of Albany,
GA and four grand
children, Ellis Herb
and Gray Herb both
of Savannah, GA and
Helen Chandler and
Walker Chandler both
of Albany, GA.
In lieu of flowers,

Dobmeier
Margaret Louise
Dobmeier, 97, of
Leesburg, GA died
Monday, December 11,
2023 at the residence
of her nephew, Gerry
Dorre. A memorial
mass was said for her
at Lafayette Redeemer
Health Center in Penn
sylvania.
Margaret was born
December 10, 1926 in
St. Louis, Missouri,
daughter of the late
Frank Julius and Ber
tha (Richardson) Dor-
re. She was a member
of the Grey Nuns of
the Sacred Heart for 27
years. As an educator
she was a teacher and
principle in multi
ple Catholic schools
and especially loved
teaching 7th grade
boys. Always teaching
with a stern voice and
a truly kind heart with
lots of encouragement
and laughter. After re
tiring from education,
Margaret volunteered
at the Hospice Center
in Edgewater, FL.
Margaret was always
educating herself with
books. She enjoyed
reading and believed
books were a treasure
to hold on to forever
but mention a round of
golf and she was there.
In addition to her
parents, Margaret was
proceeded in death
by her husband of 27
years, John Dobmei
er; her siblings: Mary
Agnes Dorre, Teresa
Dorre, Frank Dorre
Jr, Gertrude Lewis,
Joseph Dorre Sr and
James Dorre.
Survivors include
multiple nieces and
nephews and their
families to include her
caregivers, Gerry and
Theresa Dorre.

Bonita “Bonnie” Ow
ens Bunn, 62, of Mexi
co Beach, FL formerly
of Leesburg, GA,
passed away Thursday,
December 14, 2023.
Arrangements will be
announced.
Bonnie was born on
August 12, 1961 in
Cheraw, SC to Sherry
Gainey and Jerry Ow
ens. After living a host
of different places, she
finally settled down
in Albany, Georgia in
1977. Bonnie married
the love of her life in
1988, and for the next
35 years they would
raise children together
and she would be a
homemaker.
Bonnie had a love for
the beach, people, arts
and crafts and paint
ing. Bonnie could al
ways be found painting
a piece of furniture,
walls or murals. She
had a knack for cre
ating her own unique
items no matter how
big or small. Bonnie
had the biggest most
caring heart and would
gladly sacrifice her
time to help anyone in
need.
Bonnie was pro
ceeded in death by her
father Jerry Owens,
her son, Christopher
“Terrell” Bunn, grand
son, Christopher Page
Bunn and nephew,
Brandon Daniels.
Bonnie is survived
by her loving hus
band and soulmate of
thirty-five years Kerry
Bunn, two sons Chad
Crimmins of Norman
Park, GA and Tyler
(Amanda) Bunn of
Leesburg, GA, five
grandchildren, Car-
son, Chloe, Ryan,
Jacob, and Chance, her
mother, Sherry (Mark)
Sparrow of Lynchburg,
VA, two sisters, Wan
da (Robert) Phillips
of Camilla, GA, Lynn
Owens of Lynchburg,
VA, and a host of niec
es and nephews.

Ethel Lassiter Mullis
Ethel Lassiter Mullis,
96, of Leesburg passed
peacefully away on
Monday, December
18, 2023 at Magnolia
Manor of Americus,
GA. Her memorial
service will be at 2 PM
on Thursday, Decem
ber 21, 2023 at Kim-
brell-Stern. The Rev.
Ronnie Kinsaul will
officiate.
Born on September
16, 1927, in Colquitt
County Georgia,
Mrs. Mullis worked
as a nurse’s aide for
many years in Tif-
ton before moving
to Albany where she
began working for
Coats and Clark Inc,
where she later re
tired. Her greatest joy
was fishing with her
husband R.W. Mullis at
their vacation home at
Lake Talquin, Florida,
where they spent time
with their children,
grandchildren and
great grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by her husband
of over 40 years, Rufus
Webb Mullis, parents,
Joseph Perry Lassiter
and May Bell Sutton
Lassiter, son Jimmy
D. Mullis, and broth
er Leonard William
Lassiter.
Mrs. Mullis is sur
vived by her children,
Susan Johnston,
Leesburg; Carol
Arrington (Doug),
Leesburg; Debbie Rob
erson (Phil), Leesburg;
Sara Krahn (Brian),
Oklahoma; Pamela
