During the Lee County
Board of Education
meeting December
11th, Lee County High
School’s NJROTC unit
was recognized by the
board members for their
accomplishments on it
recent Annual Military
Inspection.
On November 2, 2023,
the Lee County High
School NJROTC held its
Annual Military In
spection by order of the
NJROTC Area 10 Man
ager, Commander Johna
than Shaw. The annual
inspection allows the
Area Manager a chance
to look at the way the
unit is run so he can sug
gest changes that need
to be made, but also give
praise for what the unit
has accomplished. Com
mander Shaw inspected

inventory and Admin
systems, as well as the
officers put in charge to
do the jobs. Commander
Shaw inspected each
cadet, as well as the
Pass-in-Review ceremo
ny, and the Cadet Brief
presentation. The unit
earned all outstanding
marks for all areas of the
inspection, and during
the Pass-in-Review
ceremony, Commander
Shaw noted that the unit
demonstrated the best
marching he had seen all
year.
Overall, it was a very
successful day and the
LCHS NJROTC is very
proud of every cadet,
who took time and hard
work to make such an
important day exception
al. Congratulations on
being ranked fifth in the
nation in Orienteering
and ranking in the top
five out of 62 schools.

Community Calendar
Lee County Utility Authority will meet Thursday,
December 21 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held
at the T. Page Tharp Governmental Building, Opal
Cannon Auditorium, 102 Starksville Avenue North,
Leesburg.
The offices of the Lee County Board of Com
missioners will be closed Monday, December
25, 2023 and Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in
observance of Christmas. County offices will
reopen for regular business hours on Wednes
day, December 27, 2023.
Residential garbage collection services will not
run on Monday, December 25, 2023, but will
be delayed by one day for the remainder of the
week.
All veterans are invited to join American
Legion Post 182. American Legion Post 182
meets at 7:00 p,m. the first Monday each
month at J&E Country Restaurant, 232 Walnut
Ave, S. Leesburg.
