John P:' Lilly of Cordele, who hap
pened to the misfortune to get his leg
broke in a game of ball at Cordele last
June, iaiirthe city on a visit to home-
folks. He is able to get about slowly
by the use of crutches. He has many
friends here who sympathise with him
in his misfortune and-hope that he will
soon be able to walk without the use of
crutches..

The.frequent rains are preventing
much cotton from being picked. -~
Mr. Eli Woodruff -made a visit to
Cordele last-. Sunday. They say he
makes these visits.very often of late.-
Several farmers - of our- community
are feeling good over the rise in the
cotton market and have, as a conse
quence, purchased new wagons and
mowing machines.
But this. is. not the only respect in
which they are! moving up. , We are
now preparing to have one of the very
best .schools in the county. We have
added a porch to our school room and
are now. painting both. When this is
finished and our grounds are arranged
according to the latest plans we will
have .one of the best and neatest school
rooms i* the county.
Our teacher, Prof. J. G. Oliver, has
been attending the- Summer School of
the South at Knoxville, Tenn., and says
he derived much benefit. • He is pre
pared in every respect to make our
school one of the bust in the county.
Now with the nice school room and
grounds, the up-to-date teaoher, and a
splendid community in whioh there are
some of the best people . in the stute,
what keeps ua from being in the "front
row" with our school. We are willing
and.anxious to have any who will send.
Good board can-be seoured at very
reasonable rates. The term begins the
first Monday in October and runs two
and a half months before Christmas and
five- and n half after Christmas.- See us
iU once and. arrange to sen<L this fall
and next spring.
Friday night, Septal2. there will be
a festival at Oak Grove school room,
better known perhaps as Little Greek,
for the purpo>e of strengthening our
school room. fund. - Everybody, come
and coma prepared to eat as we expect
