Fortunate is the man who has the
courage and the wisdom to hold his
“other self” ip subjection, Some
persons are able to do this through
religious influence*; others by force
ot n strong will resolutely determin
ed to conquer. Still another class,
perhaps more numerous than is sus-
pcctedj walks in (he straight and
narrow way because it is profitable
to avoid evdn the appearance of
evil. That is not an admirable mo
tive, but us it occasionally accom
plishes good results, it must be
reckoned with ns a regenerating
force. The man who does not hold
a tight grip on himselt is liable to
get into trouble at almost any time.
good citizen in Vienna is justly proud
of the Vienna Cotton Oil company, but
every Christian man and woman, and
all law-abiding citizens were forced to
bow their heads in shame last Sunday
to learn that this corporation had ordi
nary and common work'done all day in
open defiance of the law.
This company is largely dependent
upon the people of Vienna and Dooly
county for patronage and success, they
oxpect to niako money by this enter
prise. therefore they would do well to
observe the Sabbath day to keep it
Holy. The people of the community
ore orderly and law-abiding citizens,
and they are not going to tamely sub
mit to such violation of the Sabbath.
If people in Vienna persist in working
on the Sabbath day—then the strong
arm of the law will have to be resorted
tp for protection.
It takes something more to build up
a town besides factories or money—if
money was all that was needed to build
up a town, Sodom would have been in
existence yet, no doubt. The strength
and glory of Vienna is in the moral and
Christian character of her people, and
not in outlaws and law-breakers. Who
wants to move here to live and send
their children to school where people
work on Sunday and violate the
Sabbath?
Let us implore you, one and all, to
remember the Sabbath day to keep it
Holy. J. D. Norris.
I will be in the market again for
cotton seed,' ns usual paying the
highest cash price. There will be
other buyers, and all equal, the
local Oil Mill will be justly entitled
to them but, should my prices be
better, it is a duty you owe to your
family to sell them where you can
get the best prices.
Hoping you will have a good
murket for same and a bountiful
harvest, I nm, Yours very truly,
D. B. Thompson.

you reach Vienna,
