While working with a horsy Thurs

Manager 8mith and his excellent
company took their departure from
Vienna Thursday, for Americus, at
which place they will make their next
stop. While here with our people, the
members of this organisation made
many friends, and it was with regret
that they had to leave. We bespeak
for them a good patronage from the
people of Americus, as they certainly,
have an excellent company.

The Bonnair Price Company present
ed "Life In New York” to one of the
largest houses that ever greeted an
opera company in Vienna Wednesday

in the great city of New York from the

The Vienna Cotton Oil company have
agreed with the city of Vienna to
furnish electric lights for the purpose
of lighting the town. This company is
making preparations to build an elec
tric lighting plant- for their own private
use. and have contracted to aLo furnish
the city. This will, indeed, be a crest
improvement over the present system
of lights, and the advent of electric
lights will be hailed with pleasure by
the people. While the present system
is a very good one. yet it is inadequate
for the needs of the town, and hence
the determination upon the part of the
city to have a better one..
A stranger remarked the other day
on the up-to date and neat appearance
of the business houses here, and said
that tliey would compare favorably
with those of the large cities. It i*
certainly true that the business men of
Vienna take a great deal of pride in
their establishments and keep them
looking spick and span at all times.
And do you know that this is one cf
the best ways to secure trade. Who
wants to go into a dingy old hole, with
cobwebs and dust all over the shelves
and mildew covering the goods cover
ing the goods? The man who has not
pride enough to keep his establishment
bright and dean at all times need not
exp-ct much trade.
