DOWIE TO THE FORE.
John Alexander,the “prophet,”
will make a conquest of New York
city and try to convert the metro-,
polis to his churCh. He wilt take
with him three thousand of his
followers and will! them he will
hold street meetings daily, dividing
them out over the city to preach hit
doctrine.
To those of our readers who are
not acquainted with the Rev. John
Alexander, a few facts of him will
be interesting.
He cluims to be a second Klijah^
sent by God to convert the people
to the true religion. Hehnsestab-
lulled u church which goes by the
name of “Zion,” and has secured
several thousand members. Close to
Chicago he has built a city known
as “Zion City,” and it is in
habited.only by the members of that
church. Dowie owns-evety house
and urticlc in this city of severul
thousand people. He makes the
laws that, govern it and is the su
preine head of the*government, in
fact,,he is himself the government,

The bible very clearly warns the
people of strange' religions and of

off in quest of them, und this is
most surely a fulfillment of that
prophecy. .

The Atlanta Journal In its Sun

Georgia to aid it in making a great

Brother Richardson, just where we
have always been.
The people of this state are to

which it is named. The patriotic
people of Georgia will contribute
to a fund to purchase an elegant
silver set for the new ship and the
christening ceremony will be an
occasion of’mucli pomp and pride
for Georgians.
The Journal is right in chant
pinning ijicmitor Hanna's b. 11 to

means oi bringing thousands of
dollar* to this state that is sorely
needed. The while people of the
south would be the beneficiaries of
this bill to u great extent, us this
money would soon pass from the
negro's hands into theirs. The
Journal’s position is a sound one
und contains some good, hard sense*

TO FILTHY fo BE DECENT.
The "editor? ot'tbe paper pub

the “Wiregras* Blade,” seem*
to have been recovering from the
effects of a recent “jag” or suffer
ing from one of Ills usual rabid
cases of hydrophobia, we know
not which, in his lust issue. And ho
takes it upon himsejl to eternally
damn this pnper and. its editor by
the liberal use of filthy and obscene
language, unfit to be repeated in
these columns or to be' used by
any self-respecting person.
.The News is always glad to en
gage m a friendly argument with
the decent, respectable members
of the press, but we regret to make
answer to a foul-mouthed parasite,
whose only “torce" as a writer
lies in the number of vulgar and
obscene expressions he cun crowd
into the columns of his paper,

THE HAY-MAKERS. ENCOURAGE!?,

ouronihds to buy ourhny at home. We

arid they took advantage of* it. : Not
only thqt. but the Geprgia farmers are
learning that .hay is a valuable money
crop. . We use a car load; a- week and
pay from $12 to 818 a ton for It. We
are satisfied with it. Our horses and
mules thrive on it. nnd we are prepared
to hack up the proposition, that all the
hny used in Georgia can be raised here
and should be.”—Macon Telegraph.
There’s a proposition for you farmers
to think over. Twelve to sixteen dollars
a ton for your liny—nnd you can raise
fromjthrec to four tons per acre when
you try. Not only that, but it is an
“extra” crop—just Hint much picked
up after the main crop has been har
vested. All tlint has been required is
a little fertilization, a little harrowing

lias been tlie casiesLcrop on tlie farm
to make, the easiest to sell and the
most profitable.

NOTICE,
It srems that the unlucky negro
is destined to be u thorn in the tide
of the white race as long as time
lasts. And who is so blind as not
to see that it is only retribution
When the first negroes were stolen
from their African home and
brought to this country to be sold
and bartered for profit, a tin was
committed the effects of which
will last as long as the human race
exists. For that sin the race
has suffered and endured much,
but the end is not yet. Not as
long as they are among us will we
be free from the incubus of that
terrible crime.
