insurance policy which the Govern
ment will write for its soldiers and
sailors were mado public,by tbc War
Risk Insurance Bureau of the^Treas-
ury Department. Plans for placing
tbi. policies into effect immediately
will be outlined here next Tuesday
at a conference of treasury officials
with representatives of the navy and
officers and enlisted men from the 32
cantonments. •
Details of (the policy disclose • that
risks will be written upon the lives
of men and women between the age
of 15 and C5 in all branches of . the
army, navy, marine, corps, coast
guard, naval reserves, national naval
volunteers, nurses, and any other
branches of the United States service
serving with .the army and navy. An
nouncement was also made that rates
at ages higher or lower will be given
upon request.
Premiums computed on a monthly
basis, vary between 63 cents per
thousand at the age of 1 15 to $3.25
per thousand at the age of 65. Be
tween 21 and 31 years the following
monthly premiums will be charged
per $1,000 of insurance the limit be
ing $10,000:
Twenty-one to 23, inclusive, 65
cents; 24 and 25, 66 cents; 26 and 27,
67 cents; 28, 68 cents; 29 and 30, 69
cents; 31, 70 cents.
During the periods of total disabil
ity, the insurance yill be paid, not in
one lump sum, but monthly for 20
years, should the disability continue
for that period. Should death occur
before 20 years the remainder of the
policy will be paid at once, to the ben
eficiary. At the age of 25 the ninth
ly installment for the twenty-year
period would be $5,75 per $1,000 of
insurance.
Provision is made for family al
lowances, for re-education of wound
ed and cripples, for compensation in
case of death or injury without cost
and for the additional protection of
insurance at very small cost.
In cases of partial disability the
amount of compensation is determin
ed by a schedule to be based upon the
