A. letter from Ray Slade to rela
tives here states that he is convalesc
ing in ,a hospital in France. The let
ter contained nothing that would indi
cate the- nature of his condition,
whether the result of a wound orgas.
He simply expressed the hope that he
would be able to leave the hospital
soon and be sent back to the states.
It ip .evident from the letter that he
participated in some of the fierciest
fighting at the last Of all the young
men who went into the service from
Vienna none.was more widely popu
lar than Ray Slade. His friends are
happy to know that he escaped death
aad join him in thch ope that he will
soon be returned.
