With but a lew exceptions they report the crops as small for the sensor., though since the fine rain of Wednesday and Thursday they are improving rapidly. The fall oats are now being harvested and they are turning out belter than was expect ed. The cool nights are not at all favorable for cotton. No member of the road congress stood higher than Hon. Albert Winter, city editor of the Daily Times-Enteu prise,of jThomasville. His genial dispo sition is proverbial.and may have given rise to the expression, “Winter linger, ing in the lap of spring,” albeit it is spring that tempers the atmosphere and not winter.—June Cultivator. A Deservod Compliment. Our Father, &c. 114. 0 Almighty Lord God, Whom the heavens and earth cannot contain, yet Who disdaiuest not to dwell with Thy Church here on earth; Mercifully grant that all evil may depart from this place whereon we are about to lay the foundation of a house to the honour and praise of Thy most holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Who ever livetli and rcigueth. 115. O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, Who art the bright ness of the Father’s glory, and the express image of His Person; the chief corner-stone hewn from the mountain without hands; the immutable fouuda- tion; Strengthen this stone about to be laid in Thy Name; and Thou, Who art the begin uing and the cud, by Whom in the beginning God created all things, he, we beseech Thee to bless, the beginning, the increase, and the consummation of this our work, which is undertaken to the glory of Thy Name. Who, with the Father, Ac. 110. Almighty and everlasting God, mercifully be pleased to bless this stone which we are about to place for a foundation in the Name and strength of Him Who is the tried and precious stone; and grant that ail they who to the furtherance ot this work shall have fnithfully ottered to Thee of their substance, may ever be pre served, both in body and soul. Through, &c. M.—Behold, I lay in Ziou a chief corner-stoue, elect, precious. P. And he that believeth in Him shall not be confounded. M.—The stone which the builders refused. M.—Praise ye the Lord. P.—The Lord’s Name he praised. The Church’s one foundation Is Jesus Christ her Lord ; She is his new creation By water and the word: From heaven he came and sought her 'To be his holy bride; With his own blood he bought her, And for her life ho died. Elect from every nation, Yet one o’er all the eapli, Her charter of salvation One Lord, one faith, one birth (>nc holy name she blesses, Partakes one holy food, And to one hope she presses, With every grace endued. Though with a scornful wonder, Men sec her sore opprest, By schisms rent asunder, By heresies distrust; Yet saints their watch are keep- ing, Their cry goes up, “How long?” And soon the night of weeping Shall be the morn of song. ’.Mid toil anti tribulation, And tumult of her war, She waits the oonsuinipfttjou Ot peace for evermore; Till with the vision glorious Her louging eyes are blest, And the great Church victorious Shall be the Church at rest. Yet sh ■. on earth hath union With God the Three in One, Ami mystic sweet communion With those whose rest is won: O happy ones and holy ! Lord, give us grace that we Like them, the meek and Imvlv. On high may dwell with thee. . M.—In the faith of Jesus Christ, we place tins foundation-stone in the Name ot God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. P.—Amen.
