Roberts is going to make Cambridge Manor one of the most at tractive places in Thomasville, the comine season. Dr. and Mrs. Bower will make an extended tour through the'West and North West, this summer. Miss Hat- tic Winn will accompany them. It’s a pity that tho shortest nights in the year, occur during commence ment season. They have a tendency to abbreviate interviews at the front gate. Dr. S. J. Cobb, wife and daughter, will leave for their home in Nashville this morning. The family will be cordially welcomed back to their winter home in the fall. Mr. J. B. Norman, Jr., of Colquitt county, was in town yesterday. Mr, Norman is an cx-sheriff of his county, and one of the most progressive men of his section. There are some important and far reaching moves being made on the railroad chess board of Georgia, Some of these afiect Thomasville most vitally. Moral: Thomasville ought to be looking out for herself. Messrs. E. B. and R. F. Whiddon went up yesterday to have a hand some grave-stone put over the final resting place of their father, Mr. J. I. Whi Idou, who died twenty live years ago, and is buried at old Mount Zion church. Messrs. S. W. and G. V. Baker came home yesterday morning from the line of the Alabama Midland R. R. Trains are running from Bain- bridge to the Chattahoochee river, 30 miles. Grading is finished from the river to Ozark, 40 miles. The narrow guage 00 miles-south of Montgomery has been broadened, which leaves on ly about 30 miles of the whole line ungraded. Rev. Robert H. Harris returned home yesterday afternoon, lie en joyed a quiet day with rod and line, in company with a couple of old-time friends, on the Ochloekonee, before leaving. Every bind, brush, fishing and seining hole in the river, is fa miliar to Mr. Harris. The fish, in former days, were acquainted with him. They would swim up and tako hold of his hook without a murmur or protest. The Americus Recorder says: "In a few months you will be greeted by the brakeman in thundering tones with: ‘Americus! Change cars lor Macon, Atlanta, Columbus, Kansas City,’ as the Savannah train on the Savannah, Americus and Montgomery railroad rolls into our depot. The contracts tor grading, grubbing, also trestle and bridge work on the Savan nah, Americus and Montgomery road from the East Tennessee and Georgia road twenty miles eastward, have been let lo the same contractors who are now engaged in doing the work from Abbeville to McRee. The contracts have not yet been signed up, but will on Saturday.” When will Thomasville hear more than one line of road called out? Trustees’ Meeting. The Board of Trustees of South Georgia College held a very import ant meeting yesterday morning. The report of President Lovejoy was received, read and spread ou the minutes. This report was exhaustive and treated in detail the history cf the college for the past year. The report ot the treasurer was next received. It shows that tho college has 8881.93 on hand. The report of the committee on education was read and ordered pub lished. Mr. James F. Evans was elected to fill the vacancy on the Board of Trustees caused by the death ot Maj. B. F. Hawkins. Capt. John Triplett was also elected a Trustee to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Dr. S. J. Jones. Tho Board decided unanimously that the military feature should be made a prominent department, after the present term. A competent officer will be placed in charge of this de partment. Prof. Cl. M. Lovejoy was rc-elccted president. There were only two names submitted for this place. Prof. Lovejoy and Capt. C. M. Snelling, who now has a position in the Univer sity of Georgia. It is proper to say that Capt. Snelling’s name was pre sented without his knowledge or con sent. The vote stood six to five. The Board reserves the right to chnuge present arrangement with President Lovejoy. Under the arrangement he takes the receipts of the college fri5m all sonrees and employs the necessa ry teachers. Remember the hooks close June 29th. If you are going oft'for the summer subscribe for the Times-Knteri'rise. And-if you are notgoing, subscribe for it anyhow. Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Scott, nee Miss Tullulah Litilc, left yesterday, via New Orleans, for their future home in Texas. Mr. Scott has a position on one of the important railroads lines ot the Lone Star state. Thomasvillc’s two hotels—the Stuart aud Whiddon—arc both doing well, notwithstanding the fact that it’s summer. If you have any thing to sell, adver tise it in tho Ti.mes-Enterpkihe. It will pay you. He will Joojc plosely gftpp tjjp interest of tho college, Another Contract Let. Mf. S. Fleisher has let the contract to contractor N. S.
