Tlie pear growers and shippers of Cairo

and will petition tlie other localities of the
pear belt to do likewise, and then meet at
some central point and organize a general
association, the purpose ot which w ill lie to
devise ways and means to protect their in-

This is a move in the right direc
tion. At the proper time we suggest
that Thomas county pear growers
invite growers in neighboring counties
to meet-here, or some convenient
point, for consultation. A better
freight arrangement should be made,
and a bureau of information estab
lished to insure an equitable distribu
tion of pears, to tlie end that no mar
ket he glutted. And then some steps
should lie taken to ran, preserve and
evaporate the surplus.
