Position of the Planets for October. VENTS is morning star. She stands first, on the October record, not only from her charming appearance in the morning dawn as the sun’s bright harbinger, hut also for her close conjunction with Mars on the 1st, at 8 h. 2 m. A, M., when she is 22' south ot him. The planets rise on the 1st about •'! h. A. Mj, nearly three hours before the sun, and will be seen near each other, though the conjunction takes place in daylight. They must lie looked for in the northeast soon after they arc above the horizon. Venus will need no guide ‘to point out her posi tion, but an opera glass will probably he rcquircAjo bring Mars into the field. Venus rises on the 1st at 0 h. 10 m. A. M. On the .'list she ris<,s n.t 4 h. 10 in. A. M.\ Her diameter on the 1st is Id”, anil she is in the constellation L<n. t URANUS is evening star until the loth, and morning star after that time. He reaches an important epoch in hi course on the 15th, for he is then, at 9 h. A. M„ in conjunction with the sun, rising and setting with the sun mid passing to his western side. Uranus sets on the 1st at li h. 7 m. T’. M. On the 31st he rises at 5 h. 10 m. A. M. His diameter on the 1st is 3".4, and he is in the constellation Virgo. MERCURY is evening star until the 15th, when he becomes morning star. Two im portant epochs mark his course dur ing October. He is in inferior eon junction with the sun on the 15th, at 8 li. 10 m. P. M. He reaches his greatest western elongation on the 31st, nt 11 h. A. M., when he is 18° 43’ west of the sun, when he is visible to the naked eye as morning Star, being 8° north of the sunrise point. .Mer cury sets on the 1st at 6 li. 11 m P. M. On the 31st he rises at 4 h. 55 m. A. M. His diameter on the first is 8".4, and is in the constellation Virgo. SATURN is morning star nud will soon become a conspicuous object in the morning sky, for before the month closes he .rises about one o’clock in the morn ing. He is still in the neighborhood of Regultts, though the distance be tween planet and star is increasing. Saturn rises on the 1st at 2 h. 33 m. A. M. On the 31st, he rises at 0 h. 50 m. A. M. His diameter on the 1st is 15”.G, and he is in the constella tion Leo. JUPITER is evening star. lie makes a close conjunction with the four days’ old moon on the 2*th, at (i h. P. Uranus, Mercury, Venus, M’Urs, 8aturn, and Neptune arc morning Btars at the close of the mouth. Ju- pHer is the sole representative of the evening star, lie alone is on the eastern side of the sun, and astrono mical classification decrees that plan ets when east of the sun shall lie call ed evening stars; and when west of the sun, morning stars.—Scientific American. j. “Uncle,” said a sweet girl of cigli- Itecn, “is love blind?” “Yesmydear, ‘.when the other party is rich,” an swered he. It U wonderful when you think of it what a large number of men have started out into the world without a penny and have worked their way up 00 that they arc now nearly as well off as when they first started out. CUPID’S HARNESS. Most women naturally look forward to matrimony as their proper sphere in life, but they should constantly bear in mind that a fair, rosy face, bright eyes, and a healthy, well-developed form, are the best passports to a happy marriage. .All those wasting dis orders, weaknesses, and functional irregulari ties peculiar to their sex, destroy beauty and attractiveness and make life miserable. An unfailing specific for these maladies is to be found in l)r. Pierco’s Favorite Prescription. It is the only medicine for women, sold by druggists, under .1 positive gun van teo from the manufacturers, that ii will give satisfaction in every case, or money will be re funded, This guarantee has been printed on the bottle-wrappers, and faithfully carried out for many years, $1.00 per Bottle, or Six Bottles for §5.00.
