Work the Only Remedy. If misfortune hits you hard, you hit something -dee hard; pitch into something with a vim. There’s noth ing liko good, solid, absorbing and exhausting work to cure trouble. If you have met with losses you don’t want to lie awake and think about them. You want to sleep—calm, sound sleep—aud to eat your dinner with yfiappetite: But you can’t unlessf(yob* “work. If you say you don't liko work, you go loafing all day to tell Dick, and Harry the story of your woes, you’ll lie awake and keep your wife awake by your tossing, spoil your temper and your breakfast the next morning, and begin to-mor row feeling ten times worse than you do to day. There are some great troubles that only time can heal, and perhaps some that can never be healed at all; but it can be helped by that great pan acea, work. Try it, you who are afflicted. It is not a patent medicine. It has proved its efficiency since first Adam and Evo left behind them, with weeping, their beautiful Eden. It is an efficient remedy. All good physicians in regular standing pre scribe it in cases of mental and moral disease. If operates kindly as well ns leaving no disagreeable sequel, and we assure you that we have taken a large quantity of it with mo3t bene- fical results. It will cure more com plaints than any nostrum in the materia media and comes nearer to being a cure all than any drug or compound of drugs in the market. And it will not sicken you if you do not take it sugar coated. The Word “Wife.” What do you think the beautiful word “wife” comes from? It is the great word in which the English and Latin languages conquered the French and Greek. I hope the French will some day get a word for it instead of femme. But what do you think it comes from ? The great value of the Saxon words is that they mean some thing. Wife means “weaver.” You must either be house-wives or liouse- motbs; remember. In the deep sense, you must either weave men’s fortunes, and embroider them or feed upon them and bring them to decay. Wherever a true wife comes, home is always around her. Tho stars may be over her head, the glow-worm in the night’s cold grass at her feet, hut home is where she is, and for a noble woman it stretches far around her, better than houses ceiled with cedar' or painted with vermillion—shedding the quiet life for those who are homeless. This, I believe, is the woman’s true place and power. The Charleston Nows and Courier very truthfully says that the fact that wo desire to impress upon all the newspapers of tho North is that the South is prosperous because it is now, and has been for the past ten. or twelve years, under the control of its own people. So long as it is per mitted to exerciso the right of local self-government it will continue to prosper. So soon as Congress begins 1 to interfere with tho just and equal administration of tho laws in . this section‘the South' will stand still or retrograde. Don’t croak about your tpwn and its prbsjfects. If you can’t ray some thing hopeful and cherry, be silent. When you run across a croaker, shoot him on the spot. The country wants men who are energetic enough and hopeful enough to put their shoulders to th*JffifeL—Ex, WILD! TIBI, -WITH THE Biggest and Best Stock DRY LUMBER IN SOOTH GEORGIA.
