Hill alluded to Georgia as the “Empire State of the Stf$th.” Governor Hill may not have “consulted his encyclopedia,” but he knew what he was talking about.' The ■sipjfouthem states which have com pleted their assessments so far are : For 1889. GoMia;.;........ $380,189,314 Alabama..••• 242,197,531 Louisiana 223,394,756 Mississippi 157,830,431 South Carolina. 145,290,344 Tennessee........... 350,456,761 It will be seen that Georgia leads them all. The assessment of the same states in 1888 was $1,694,267,253; improvement $111,091,884, or nearly six per cent. Alabama and Georgia have added more than twenty millions to their assessment. The twelve southern States increas ed. their assessment last year only $115,560,276 in all but little over What the six states have so iar done. There is nothing of which men are more liberal than their good advice, be their stock of it ever so small ; because it seems to carry in it an inti- 'mation of their own influence, impor tance or great worth. ASLEEP ON THE TRACE. A llttlo ch of play, had pillowed his . track and fallen asleep. The train was almost upon him when a passing rushed forward and saved him from a stranger rushed forward and caved him from a horrible death. Perhaps you are asleep on the track, too. You oro, if you are neglecting tho hacking cough, the hectio flush, the loss or appetite, growing weakness and lassitude, which havo unconsciously crept upon you. Wake up, or the train will bo upon you! Consumption, which thus insiduously fastens Its hold upon its victims while they oro un conscious of its approach, must bo taken in time, if it is to be overcome. Dr. Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery has cured thou sands of cases of this most fatal of maladies. If taken in time, and given a fair trial, it w guaranteed to benefit or cure in every caso of Consumption, or money paid for it will bo REID aCULPEPPERTS 120-122 Broad St., - Thomasville, Ga ■ School and Blank Books, Stationery,: Of every style.
