tragedy, exonerated Wynn.

The Union Meeting met as appoint
ed, with a good 1 attendance of both
delegates and visitors. Introductory
sermon preached by Rev. John Carl
ton. Adjourned til! afternoon.
Meeting convened according to ad
joiiriiment, and was called to order by
Mud. W II. Culpepper, and proceed
ed to organize, by re-electing Bro.
Culpepper Moderator, and E. II.
Bryan Clerk,
The first question was read and laid
before tlie meeting; discussed by Bro
J. I. Hancock, and others; answered
us follows:
/iV.WoJ, That it is the sense of this
meeting, that it is the duty of lay
members of ’,li« church of Christ, to
unroll the scriptures and reduce their
precepts to practice.
Report of committee on preaching
read, and adopted. Hour for meeting
uni adjourning appointed. Prayer
by Rev. John Carlton.

Thu second question was read and
laid before the meeting. After a
lengthy discussion by Rev. T. A.
White ami several others, the follow
ing answer was adopted by unanimous
vote :

meeting, it is grossly inconsistent for
members of Christ’s church to make
sell intoxicating liquors, or to aid,
by word or action, the cause of in
temperance. <#
The third question was submitted
and after general discussion, answered
follows:
AV.WtrJ, That in the sense of this
meeting, that our Saviour did not in
tend to leach the literal act of feet
washing, in the 13th chapter of tlie
Gospel by St. John.
Thus ended the business of the
meeting.
Next Union Meeting voted to meet
with new Ochlockontc Church, at
Duncanville. Prayer by E. II. Bry
an. Adjourned to Sh-TO A. M., Sun
day for Sunday school and preaching.
Sunday School opened with reading
the scripture lesson and prayer by
Bro. A. J. Twitty ; speeches made by
Revs. T. A. White aud M. Hancock.
Preaching at 11 o’clock, by Rev.
T. A. White, dosed by Rev. A. B.
Stephenson.
Congregations each day were large
and attentive ; great interest was man
ifested during the whole meeting.
Brethren of all the churches, send
delegates to our Union meetings, and
