Lee officiating.
The groom is one of Fairfield’s well
known and largest merchants, and be
ing a widower and business man, lie
proceeded in a business like way in
matrimonial mutters. His bride is a
handsome, fine looking lady who
came to Texas a few weeks ago to
visit relatives, little thinking what
change was in store lor her. Chancing
to come to Fairfield, not long ago—
the balance is told in the words that
heads this article. Mrs. Newman is
of a large and well known family of
Thomas county, Georgia, in which
county Mr. N. was also raised; and
lienee, probably, the cause of the mu
tual affinity s» soon consummated.
We clip the above from the Fair-
field Recorder, published at Fairfield,
Texas. The bride is well known here
and tier friends will join with the
Times-Enteri'IUsk in wishing for
her—and him who is now all the
world to her—long life and happiness.

Police Court News.
Mayor Hopkins held a short session
of the police court yeslei day morning.
All the defendants, except one, were
colored. The single exception was
John Bird, who was charged with
shooting oft firearms in the city. He
plead guilty, with the explanation
that the employes and guests of the
l’iney Woods, where he is a porter,
have been in the habit ot firing oil
salutes when any of their friends left,
and as the bullets had been extracted
from the revolver he did not think he
was violating the law. In view of
his explanation he was let off with a
fine of only $t and costs.
Tull) Quince and his wife Lilia were
fined $3 each for being disorderly.
Clara Barnes parted another wo
man's curly locks with a stick, for
which offense s'nc had to pay f?4 or
five days. There was other cases on
docket which were continued until
Monday.

WE CAN AND DO
We have been hearing rumors to
tHc effect that Thomasvilie will be
made the eastern terminus of the Ala
bama Midland Railroad. That is, the
crews of trains will change there. If
such were the case Bainbridge, instead
of being the terminus of the Stidiand,
would simply be a way station. Gf
course Thomasvilie, and we do not
blame her, is pulling for that state of
affairs, but its consummation would be
a rather hard slam on us. However,
it behooves our people to look into
the matter and not be caught napping.
We give the rumor for what it is worth.
—Bainbridge Democrat.
What is Thomasvilie doing to se
cure the advantage that will accrue to
her if she is made the changing point
of the crews?
