I’arsons, two pruminc t Northern gentlemen of large wealth who are wintering here, had closed a trade with Col. A. T. McIntyre for a large body ol land lying just north of the towD. Upon investigation the reporter learned that the papers had been drawn up by Messrs. Hanselland Mer rill, that they were duly signed and payment made on the purchase. T he tract lies, mainly, between the Moul trie and Albany roads, and contains, by careful survey, eight hundred and three and three quarter acres One hundred and eleven acres are within the juipo- ration. We understand that the property will belaid oil in avenues and drives and otherwise handsomely improved The property is very valuable, and susceptible ol being greatly, beautified It is slightly undulating, unversed by never failing ftrtanis of pure running water, and i? covert d with an uiiliro- kt-u forest of | ine and other southern growth. Mr. Joins hits, already, invested heavily*in real estate around Thom: vilfe, and this In.-t investment is an ev deuce, not only ol • hid confidence in ti e future of TTn-niRsviile, but attests his gootl judgment i s well. Hi- usso- ciatc in the purchase, Mr. l’ersi-rs, had. before this transaction, purehas ed some valuable i-uliiirben property on the Monticello road. The secresy, qs wpll as the successful outcome ol the trans action, is due to Mr. J. W Ueid, an amateur in tiie real estate business, and through whom the purchase was made. Denies The Charge. White is a niorphsne eater, and says that lie was under the influence of the drug, instead of whisky when arrested Wednesday. Lewis W. I’alntrr, Djjroit, is at the Stuart. A parly of gentlemen from hero went dowu to the lake yesterday, to spend a few days camping out. S. There is one public Improvement tyhiph sbouhl he completed this year; the boulevard should lie extended from Greenwood around to Sanford’s. And Mayor Ilopkius is the man to have the work completed. Stokes, I). I)., of New Jersey, who spent some time here this winter, pays the following beautiful tribute to those woodland songsters around Thomasville: "Among the things which a slrau- ger notices at Thomasville are the mocking birds. They are natives to the clinte. They lly in every direc tion, among the shrubbery, in the tops of the highest trees, on the weath er-vanes of loftiest pinnacles, across ti e streets resting on the fences, eve rywhere their free, full, cheery songs immediately arrest attention. Fifty thousand dollars is a big pile o! money, it isn't often that a trans action in a solid block of real estate, in a small town, amounts to these fig ures.
