Telegraph Office Hours. On and after to day, May 1st, the telegraph office at this place will ob serve summer hours, as follows: Open at 7:30 a. m.,and close at 9 p. m. , On Sundays: Open from 8 to 10 a. m,, and 7 to 8 p. m. A Letter From Wilson Palmer. Sheriff Hurst has received a letter from Wilson Palmer, the notorious burgler who was sentenced to twenty years in the penitentary from this coun ty three years ago. Palmer wants to know how the public pulse stands here in regard to his securing, executive clemency. Return to Thomasville. Mrs. W. H. Sage, of Willmington, who has been spending the season here left yesterday morning for home. Earlier in the season, after spending several months here she went to Aiken, C-, but not being pleased returned Thcmasville until she was ready to return North. Off For the Lake. Dr. and Mrs. Hopkins chaperoned a party that went down to Lake Iamo- nia yesterday for an outing. The ladies of the party were Mrs. J. G Hopkins, Misses Mable Hastings, George Mitchell, Blanche Tarwater, and Rosa Palmer. The gentlemen were Dr. J. G. Hopkins, B. F. Haw kins, J. H. Merrill, T. N. Hopkins, C. S. Bondurant, and M. B. Wait. As a matter oi course the party ex pects to catch any quantity of fish, but whetner they do or not, it can easily be seen that it will reap a rich harvest of pleasure. S. S. CONVENTION.
