At the afternoon sermon to men 5,000 were present. “The evangelist created a sensation and aroused indignation among the old citizens by denouncing the 20th of May celebration ol the Mecklen burg Declaration of Independence as founded on a myth and nothing but a drunken frolic. The 20th of May is a legal holiday in North Carolina. “At the sermon to-night Sam Jones said that his charge in the afternoon that the Mecklenburg declaration ol ' independence was a myth, he had since learned, was an egregious error. J He apologized humbly for slandering the noble people, and said those Phil adelphia people had imposed on him in the matter, and when he got back to Philadelphia again he would stamp the feathers out of them for imposing on him about the Mecklenburg decla ration of indepence.” Mr. Jones should be more careful. His mouth will get him into trouble yet. Now and then he shoots it off rather recklessly, too promiscuously, as it were. '•If a woman is pretty, To mo ’(is no matter. Be she blonde or brunette. The foolish idea of bleeding a person for many ills is now one of the highly ridiculous practices of former medical science. The idea is to build up the system, it needs all the blood, and at an early day the person who falls to take W. W. C. for any Blood Trouble, Kidney or Bladder Affliction, Rheumatism, Indigestion, etc., will be as much 'an object of amusement as the methods of the early physicians. Why? Because he does’nt know a good thing (W. W. C. is) when he sees it. An unhealthy woman Is rarely. If otct* beautiful. The peculiar diseases to which so many of the sex nro subject, are prolific causes of pale sallow faces, blotched with un- _ ,ju 11, lustreless eyes and ems* mancntly cured by using Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescription; and with the restoration of health comes that beauty which, combined with good qualities of head and heart, makes women angels of loveliness.
