He responded to the request of Mr. McCants, thnt he hold up his hands, with it moderate degree of alacrity The two cisterns on upper Broad, one nt tho intersection of Broad and Jefferson, and tlie other near the Methodist church, will be bricked in and cemented. This completes the last of this work. There are now some 25 or .80 large cisterns bricked and cemented, in various portions of the town. It turns out that the yoke of oxen which tlie negro Space sold to Mr. Pete Bone was stolen from a Mr. Bur gess. who lives near McDonald, but just across the Brooks line. Young Burgess was in town yesterday. He sent the oxen home and took the thief to Quitmnn on the noon train. Mr. I) M.
