Preparing For Business.
The train men arc having some
thing like a picnic just at present, but
it will not be long before Kolb Gems
will begin to roll, and then they will
have to do double duty. Already the
authorities arc collecting all the empty
cars obtainable, so as to be prepared
for the heavy shipments as soon as the
melon crop is ready to move.
’Tis said that Mr. Blaine favors
Chauncey M. Depew for the presi
dency.
Early Wedding Chimes.
Yesterday morning, at S o’clock.
Miss Lena M. Paine, daughter of
Capt. and Mrs. T. S. Paine, ol this
city, and Mr. Thomas M. Jki.ks, for
merly of Hawkinsville, but now of
Oveida, Florida, were joined in die
holy bonds of wedlock, in the presence j
of a large corconr.se ol invited friends,
in the Presbyterian church, by the
Rev. A. W. Clisby.

attendants entered the church, passing I

Mrs. Lewis, of Hawkinsville, a sister '
of the groom. The attendants were,

I Smith; Miss George Mitchell and Mr.
j Tom Livingston; Miss Annie Sanford
and Mr. Albert Riley; Miss Honorine
j Mitchell and Mr. Ed. Paine; Miss
Annie Paine and Mr. O. jelks. The
bridesmaids were attired in simple
white, each carrying a bouquet of
white flowers. The bride, attired in a
pre'ty traveling costume, entered and
moved down the left hand aisle, lean
ing on the arm of her sister, Miss An
nie, while the groom, and his best
man, Mr. O. Jelks, marched down
the opposite aisle. They met at the
altar, when, alter an appropriate and
impressive prayer, by the Rev. Ben
jamin L. Baker, Mr. Clisby performed
the ceremony which made them man
and wife.
The pulpit and rear ol the church
was beautifully and tastefully decorated
with evergreens and rare flowers, the
work of the friends of the bride.
The early sunlight gleamed through
the richly stained windows, resting
like a benediction on the handsome
young couple, who had just plighted
'heir troth, each to the other.

Thoinasville, while regretting to lose
Miss Lena—she is universally popular
—will follow her wherever fate or for

Burglars Visit Metcalfe.
Metcalfe is quite excited over a
visit of burglars to that place Monday
night. They eutered the residence of
Mr. John Carroll, and stole his wife’s j
jewelry, several dollars iu change and j
his keys. They also visited the same

The only articles stolen were his keys,
nothing else being troubled. The
thieves have not been apprehended.
