Picnic at Boston.
Wednesday was a big day at Bos
ton.
The farmers of the surrounding
country joined with the public-spirited
citizens of the town in a picnic in a
grove adjoining Phiiomathic Hall,
and the combination brought about
very pleasant results.
The reporter left on the noon train
for the picnic, and 25 minutes later
disembarked and tho first men he saw
were Hon. Tom McIntyre, Jr., Col.
Dan Forrest and Mr. Joe Rail bound
for the same pleasau destination. To
those that know Boston's way of lin
ing the hospitable oa such occasions
it is unnecessary to say that the dinner
was a good one, and that the supply
was bountiful. It has been the
good fortune of the reporter to see
Boston and Boston people under al
most every possible condition, hut he
had never attended it picnic there be
fore. He was altogether satisfied. It
might he deemed a constructive revo
cation of confidence to give the
achievements of some of the gentle
men at tiie table. Ho it will not ho
done. There was one gentleman, how
ever, whose very appearance is sug
gestive of good living, who after he
he had eaten as much as he could, told
his better half to take some delicacy
that was filleted him, homo.
Notwithstanding the threatening
character of the day, a goodly crowd
was present and had it not been lor
tlie weather a much larger crowd
would have been there.
The alliance had a business meeting
during the day, in which various mat
ters pertaining to the welfare of the
order w ere discussed. Boston is hope
ful of securing the A. B. A F. R. II.,
and il is a certainty that the Oil null
and Fertilizer factory will be built.
