Davies accompanied Mr. and Airs. Frank Winn on thei trip yesterday morning to Manistee Mich., to visit Mrs. Canfield. Mr. G. W. Henderson, manager o; the Thomasvill Oil Mills, left yester day morning for n business trip to Atlanta. Mr. Tat Kendrick, who has been brick laying on the depots of the A la- bama Midland for some time, lias re turned home. Mrs. J. L. Linn, ol Louisville, who has been spending about six weeks here, visiting Mrs. Belle Linn, left yesterdny for home. Another colored excursion has been arranged for the 23d of this month. The trip will he from hero to Bruns wick, and return. Mr. R. W. Glading, of the Monon Route, left yesterdny for Chicago, on business connected with his road. He will return in ubout a week. Capt. and Mrs. .1 L. Finn will leave in a few days for a summer out ing. They will go up on the Hudson river, and amid the beauties of river, lakes and mountains will spend the heated term. Belle Munson, a little colored girl was in court as an offender for the first time. The charge against her was for severely wounding another little girl with a brick. In vain she tried to explain they were only play ing ; she was lined S3 or two days. Joe Dixon was fined SI for riding on the sidewalk Will Gray had been summoned hy the police for disorderly conduct, but preferred to stay away, and S10 was entered against him for contempt. The dining room at “PiueSnm- mil” was turned over to the happy party, and it is needless to add that pleasure ruled the hour. Later in the afternoon sherbet, and other re freshments were served under a grape arbor in the yard, and they were abundantly enjoyed. The Fire Saturday Night, l he blaze on Carroll Hill Saturday night was more serious than was sup posed. Mr. Calvin Carroll had the mislortunc to lose his large barn, con taining two buggies, a carriage and two wagons, besides harness, feed, and other contenls which were stored in the building. His live stock, horses, chickens, and pigs, were saved. The fire was discovered near midnight, but loo far off for the fire department be of service. Tne insurance, through Hansell A' Merrill, amounted o $2,ooo. Mr. Carroll estimates ins loss at $1,500. The blaze was no douLt of incendiary origin. Mr. R. Hamilton will open Con gress Halt, a splendid fitted tip hotel at Atlantic City, N. J., on the 281b inst. Mr. Hamilton has issued a very pretty fo’der containing a cut of Con gress Ha!!, and also of the Masury, in Thomasville. If any of our friends are in the neighborhood of Atlantic City, this summer, they will find Congress Hall a delightful place to stop at, and Mr. Hamilton one of the cleverest and most accommodating of landlords.
