Mrs. Dr. Matthews, who lias been visiting her son at Waycross, spent the night with Rev. and Mrs. McDnn- ell Tuesday, en route home to Cuth- bert. Mr. G. Prentice Fallis, left yester day to attend the quinquennial cele bration of the college at Georgetown, Va., and then to enjoy a few months outing at the popular Virginia re sorts. Capt. Paine requests any parties who may be inadvertently overlooked in taking the census of the town, to report to him. We hope all will do so. It is very important that there be a full poll of the population ot Thontaaville. This census will test our growth and progress. The Augusta Chronicle says : ‘•The Augusta and West Florida is now assured, and the line to Thomas- ville will be pushed through to com pletion. Augusta will before much longer he on the highway between Florida and New York." An excursion to the Florida seaside resorts, St. Augustine, Armond and Daytona, has been arranged for Tucs day June loth. Passengers can take any regular train. Tickets will be good to return up to 17th, thir. giving the excursionists one week at the sea shore. The round trip tare will be to St. Augustine $4,85, to Armond $6.20 and to Daytona $6.35. “We are thinking of lighting St. Thomas church with gas,” said a lady member of that church, yesterday. ‘•But your services arc only held in the morning and afternoon,” the party addressed replied. ‘•That ts true,” said the lady, “hut then you know if a marriage was to take place in the church in the even ing, we would have to have the church lighted.” You can always trust a lady to look after details, when anything touching matrimony is involved. CURTRTGrHT &■ DANIEL, 108 Broad 8t. County Court. Yesterday was the regular quarter |y term of the county court. There was an unusually small docket on hand. In the ciyd cases several judg ment were rendered The only two criminal cases tried were against Jim Davis and Neal Blackshear, both col ored. The former had been arrested for disturbing public worship, and car rying a pistol. He was fined $35-75 for the first offence, but was not prose cuted for the latter. Neal lllackshear, is a little negro gamin, who lives on the streets, and begs and steals for a living. He has parents living but will not stay with them. He was evident ly guilty of burglary, but on account ol his youth was allowed to plead guilty to larceny, and was sentenced to pay a fine of $11.25 or two months. He was unable to pay, and while serving his sentance will have an opportunity to reflect on the consequences of crime. Complimentary. Mr. Robert G.
