On the Right Line. An exchange- s-ys : “The Laurens county alliance, at, its last meeting, adopted some impor tant resolutions. AI.Hl.RT WHITER. Bna. Mini. Quay and Sherman have fallen out. This news will not disturb the country. Congress is still engaged in dispos ing of the surplus. And they arc get ting along finely. The weather is too hot to talk poli ti rs—unless you can get oil the shady side of the street. Atlanta is closely watching for a tangle in the gubernatorial warp She thinks Tom Glenn, could unravel it. Several census takers have swallowed /lough on I vats, and ended their mis erable experience. Keep their graves green. Will Hardeman keep the people in suspense about his candidacy as long as Livingston did? And then, ns Livingston did, drop out ? Wc shall see what wc shall see. Harrison now lorbids the Marine Hand to play: “Where Hid ^ ou Get that Hat?” Mrs. II 1ms asked them to substitute “Annie Rooney," for that song. neighbors, whether as plaint ffi or def endants, and urge them to settle their !!° 1 differences out of the courts. That the Committee appointed by the county alliance arbitrate all cases for litigants now ir. court that tney can induce panics to bring before them. It is said there is great prejudice in the order against lawyers. If the alliance- men will take their revenge out of the legal fraternity, by compromising their differences, instead of carrying them into the courts, at great expense and trouble to both parties, then every one will say they have adopted the right course. Litigation, as a rule, never pays, and we hope the alliancentcn throughout the country, wiil follow the example of their brethren in Laurens. Some one referring to the recent rapid changes in the spiritual faith of • Sam Small, suggests that lie will prob ably become an elder in tho Mormon church. No he won’t; Mrs. S would have a say in this last change of faith. Rlainc now runs the state depart- ment by telephone. Hello, there, John Bull! How about that Behring sea matter? A deep growl is heard rumbling back along the wires, ’neath the Atlantic, (>ur brother (in) Black, of Augus ta, is still kept to the fore, as a possi ble candidate for governor, by several papers, notably, the News and Adver tiser, of Albany. Black is one of the purest and best men in the State, hut but lie’ll hardly come in this time. Senator Vance, of N. C,,thc man who introduced the famous suit-treas ury bill in the Senate, says now that he did so, at the request of Dr. Mc- t'unc, and that he considers the bill utterly impracticably, and that he will not under any circumstances, support it. The Harrisons have accepted the gift of a $20,000 cottage at Cape May. Think of Cleveland, or his wife accept, ing a house from anybody. But this is the era of republican boodle. The men who paid lor that cottage wil- not be forgotten. They will get fat offices. And now Senator Mitchell ofOregon, wants.allof the Grand Army men to have the privilege ot franking their letters, just like congressmen. Having thrown open the public treasury to these men, so that they can help them selves to the cash, the next move will be to relieve them front all taxation and to furnish them homes. And the south will have to foot the bulk of the bills. 0, no Mr. Olive. Mr. Olive is a very clever gentle man, but as a Congressional candi date he has overweigted himself at the start. The camel will go through the eye cl a needle with somewhat less difficulty than will a candidate enter Congress from Georgia on an Olive bib, or sub-treasury platform. The national Democratic platform is good enough in Georgia, and a candidate is on aate ground in any district in the slate when he stands fiat footed and squarely on it.—Columbus Enquirer- Sun. I Sunshine in the Home. “Do not be afraid of a little fun at home. Do not shut up tne house, lest the sun should fade your carpets, and your hearts, lest a laugh should shake down a few of the musty old cobwebs that are ranging there. If you wish to ruin your sons, let them think that all mirth and social enjoy ment must be left at the threshold without, when they come home at night. When once a home is recarded as only a place to eat, drink and sleep in, the work is begun that ends in gambling houses and reckless degra dation. Young people must have lun and relaxation; if they do not find it at their own hearth stone, they will seek it at less profitable places. There fore, let the doom :nd windows be cheerfully thrown open in the summer, and make the home delightful with all those little arts parents so well under stand. Do not repress the buoyant spirits ol your children. Hall hour of the merriment of a home blots out the remembtance of many a care and annoyance during the day ; and the best safe-guarJ they can take with them into the world is the influence of a bright home.’' A Little Man. The following is characteristic of the man: Executive Mansion, Washington Mv Dear Kir—Acknowledging the re ceipt of your letter of March 1, with the accompanying documents, the President directs me to inclose 81, as desired, to the proposed memorial from America to Franco.
