One of the large bay horses, owned by the Southern Express ofHcc died Thursday from over feeding. There was no police court yester day morning, as the witnesses in the only case on docket were absent. This is the season when the house keepers are kept constantly annoyed by darkeys with blackberries. Between the brass band, laediciuel vender and circus, the small boy is [ managing to survive the warm weath- Thc pay train came in yesterday, and distributed quite a sum of money among its employees of the S. E. A W. Ry. Mr. William Jones, of the Eistj Tennessee Virginia and Georgia. Ry„ among the railroad representatives with headquarters in this city. The steam grader, of the S. E. A W. Ity., was in operation yesterday out on tho Chattahoochee division, beyond the Ice Works. It is inter esting to watch the machine while at work. Trustees Meet. The Board of Trustees of South Georgia College met in the office Judge W. D. Mitchell, at n o’clock Nearly a lull board was present. The object of the meeting was elect a president for the college for the ensuing year. Something like a dozen applicants had filed their recommendations with the secretary of the board. After some discussion it was moved and carried that a committee ot tour be appointed by the chairman, Col Wright, to go over the applications and recommend cnc of the number for election. The committee appointed was as follows : Judge W. I). Mitchell S. L. Hayes, James Watt, and T. E. Blackshear. This committee met yesterday atternoon at 5 o'clock, and will make their report to a full meet ing of the board, this morning at o’clock. It is impossible, of course, to tell what the result will be, but the queS' tion of the presidency is an important one, and the members of the board have the intcaest of the college heart. at Mr. Willie Green, formerly with the Savannah Steam Bakery, but who has been in charge of the Alabama terri tory of the P. P. P. Co., now has charge of this circuit, where Mr. Frank Owens established such a fine trade for his iouse.
